Feel the pride in our armed forces.
Permit is required to visit Nathula pass. The cost is Rs. 5500/- per vehicle. The place is at a height of 14k feet and was cold and windy even in summer. The place has lots of stairs to climb so not advisable for senior citizens. The route to the pass is beautiful with Tsmogo lake on the way. The place is a military area so photography is not allowed. The China border and building are so close that u can put ur hand across a small fence and say that your hand visited China🤗 .

    Excellent stay
I stayed in this hotel for 2nights in the last week of October during my Sikkim visit and booked by Travel . We were mly greeted by the reception staff and were provided the rooms of our booking choice. Rooms were clean, well maintained, of premium decor and constantly serviced. Our rooms had the city and mountain looking view which looked amazing both during day and in night

    Nathula pass
Nathula pass is India Tibet Border. Nathula pass is typically a one day itenary from Gangtok. A typical itenary covers tsogmo lake, nathula pass and baba harbhajan temple. One has to take a prior permit to visit this place, so do co-ordinate with your travel operator for permits. Please note that aadhar card is not accepted as a proof for issuance of permit. Nathula pass is two and half hour drive from Gangtok. The earlier one leaves the better, as the climate can be tricky in the second half of the day. There is a village named 15th mile, from were one can buy necessary winter wear, if you are short on the same. The oxygen level in nathula pass is low. Keep this in mind and only undertake as much physical activities as your body permits.

50 km from gangtok city.high altitude place so prepare accordingly. On route changu lake and baba harbhajan mandir are must visit places. During our visit on 25 march there's plenty of snow ❄️ on road also.nathula pass famous for india China border and snow capped Landside. Warm clothes and long boots 👢 are compulsory. Enroute plenty of food options. Permit is must before visit. Both private and sharing taxi options are available. Tsomogo lake / changu lake has excellent view with yak savary.

    Indo China border
Perfect time to reach there is when it’s snowing. We reached 10 days post that and could hardly find snow but it’s really amazing. Thin air and windy. We could see the China border and also the time zone changes to China’s time due to lesser distance

Sikkim - Gangtok - Pleasant memories
It is a great experience to travel to Sikkim - Gangtok.. It is a must visit to Nathula pass,.. It has been a wonderful experience away from City life... Pleasant stay at Sterling Orange... Great food experience at the resort,,, Travel arrangement from NE taxi was a planned one... It is always good to choose a higher plan to get proper travel arrangements, It started with Indigo flight from Chennai to Bagdogra. Pickup from Bagdogra airport by NE taxi - driver to Gangtok on time... Sight seeing next day and Pleasant visit to Nathula pass day after... We left gangtok to Darjeeling... Experiences in Sikkim are better than Darjeeling...if you love nature ...

There's not a lot to do or see there. The border isn't very clearly visible either -- you only see two flags right opposite each other, the Indian and the Chinese. We enjoyed the drive to the destination and the views much more than the actual border pass.

Sikkim is in general not nice to tourists, and the same is evident when you plan your Nathula Pass trip. There is immense confusion around the process of acquiring permits to visit the pass, and agents and drivers attempt to cheat you into paying more than you should. The distance from Gangtok is a mere 50 KMs but they will charge you between INR 5 - 7 thousand for a round trip. It looks like cab associations are in cahoots with the government, making passes inaccessible to the general public unless you work with a local travel agent. They also present random rules to prevent you from using your own vehicle, and force you to use an expensive cab service.

If you're in Gangtok, it might be worth your while to visit, but don't get your expectations high.

Undoubtedly must visit, but please do understand the significance of the place (especially for people taking children, who may not know or understand it at young age). I am writing it after seeing people being careless and not paying attention to warnings commanded by the border security officers. When its snow, one must not climb uphill just to take fancy pictures. If its bad weather just 10 mins stay is enough at this place, its not a commercial area to roam around carelessly. Officers are patrolling there and we must take it seriously.

We had a good experience at Nathula inspite of the "crowd" and the tourists pushing one another to be at the border!
Be prepared for the cold weather and long walk
Most importantly at the start of your trip be prepared for the long and frustrating wait for the permit. Understand that the permit is issued only on the day of the trip which means one is not sure if you will get the permit or not. This results in long traffic queues and waiting time , the entire process is extremely unorganised and very badly managed by the Tourism Dept

It was such an amazing trip to Nathula Pass in Sikkim. We were not thought of visiting Sikkim, but had a sudden plan and visited Nathula. It was such an amazing place. When we reach the border, we should feel proud and will salute the Indian flag waving there. Its a must visit place.

Any tourist going to Gangtok should definitely go to Nathula pass. the road from Gangtok to Nathula pass is very well maintained and it will take not more than 2.5 hrs to reach via Changu lake. The views from the amazing height while reaching are mind blowing and once you reach the place a feeling of Patriotism grips you. salute to our army to maintain such a difficult post.
A few people might feel a little bit uneasiness and breathlessness due to thin air , but take breaks while climbing stairs to avoid any such issue. But nothing to bother much. I will say that a trip to Gangtok is not complete without going to nathula

Natula pass is out of the world. We were at right time to visit. Snow capped mountains and valleys with small lakes in between skips your heart beat. Beware of travell agents who try to charge more money for the vehicles/ pass. Innova kind vehicles with 7 PPL are charges around 2500-3000. Not more than that. And also they will try to pick up other PPL in between for extra money. Talk to them before hand itself to avoid unnecessary issues

The place gives you goose bumps. It's a different feeling when you see the Indian flag and China flag together in a frame though separated by boundaries. Harsh conditions, super cold weather at a height of 14000 ft. The weather changes suddenly and without any warning. Not sure if I should be posting any photographs (security reasons)

The journey to Nathula from Gangtok is long and very scenic with windy roads and fog/clouds reducing visibility to barely 5feet.

Once you reach Nathula, there are 74 steps to go up to the pass. Photography is not allowed after a point and if you try to take pictures, the army officers will confiscate your phone.

There were a lot of people at Nathula, eating Popcorn & Samosas; littering the place. Crowd management could be improved and also information regarding the checkpoint.
