People come from all over the world to get blessings of God sani. Must visit if you like visiting temples. All old temples in india are energy centers and this temple is no exception. There is a maragatha lingam(emerald) which is kept inside a safe and is taken out only during pooja time.

It was easy to find, a pleasant drive. Once we got there, there was a clean place to leave our footwear, good darshan. The bonus was that we got Prasadam (tasty) too! Even though it was a saturday (Saturn's day), it was not too crowded. The reason cited was "demonenisation"!!

Temple was clean. We had a dip in the kulam which was quite dirty with clothes (those who dip there are required to leave behind their clothes and change into new ones before leaving).

Take a holy dip in the nalakulam (the Pond of king Nala) to get rid of any ill-effects of Saneeshwar. Would be better if you visit the temple during the less-crowded days esp. when visiting with your family and little children. The special darshan (Rs 200) is recommended to have a hassle-free darshan.

This is the main attraction of Karaikal, a famous Hindu temple in the world. They say the actual idol is on the outside of compound wall of the main temple, which is very small and many will miss it.

Very few templates dedicated to Lord Saturn, presiding deity is Lord Siva, Dharbaranyeswar and the place Tirunallar was historically called Dharbaranyam. The temple is revered by the hymns of 7th century Tamil saivite poets, Appar, Sundarar and Sambandhar and is classified as Paadal Petra Sthalam.
