Soooo disappointing. Today is the third day in a row we tried to go to the botanical garden.
Google stated that it was open on each day.
Started on Monday, the guard at the gate tells us open tomorrow.
Came back the next day, Tuesday, another guard at the gate again says open tomorrow.
So tried a 3rd time Wednesday (double checking Google opening times again) and the guard that was here says open next Monday!!!! Why? The guard does not know. Nobody knew what was happening. It was like a twilight zone.
So the garden may well be quite nice, but the organisation and information is beyond the joke. It’s quite unbelievable that people working there don’t even know why it’s not open.

The site charges you an entry fee for a poorly maintained garden. Many of the sites inside the garden is not operating or accessible when I am there. The variety of plants is subpar and it is not exactly a peaceful park to walk in nor is it easily accessible from other attractions in Pondicherry. Just skip it and save your time.

Thought of taking my kid to a nice place with some activities and obviously fresh air. The place is too big but many activities in play are is average and lacked maintenance. Toy train is not functional which was a disappointment. Garden is maintained well though you can take nice pics around this place. Couple of hours you could relax and watch kids play and enjoy their time.

Unlike many other Botanical Gardens in different States of India, this one in Pondycherry is a disgrace to the very name. Totally neglected by the authorities, it is in complete ruins. There is nothing there to call it a Garden, leave alone Botanical Garden. The whole place is infested by wild growth. There is no flowers any where even for name sake. The only thing that happens here seriously is sale of entry tickets. The visit is absolute wastage of time and money.

Botanical Garden, a Hot tourist Spot of Puduchery is in middle of City. The Garden is spread in a huge area of 22 Acres where you can relax and listen twittering of birds. You can also enjoy rich variety of floora too. This is a 178 years old Park built during French Rule. The main thing is that each tree or planet is labeled with its Scientific,Common and Tamil Name. These happens rarely in any garden. An attraction of children is mini train in park.Garden requires more maintainanace and Daily bases Cleaning. A Nice Visit.

We decided to go to the Botanical Gardens as we love nature, but were met with a tired looking place. They were busy with some work, but not sure what is happening. While there,it feels slightly shady and we were harassed by a group of boys just wanting to make trouble. If you want to call it a botanical garden, then please make it of more botanical interest.

Located near the new bus station, this Botanical garden was developed by the French during their dominion on this union territory .For whatever reason they created, it still stands a natural garden, full of many exotic plants, brought from foreign countries. It has impression of French taste and architecture. I entered in this garden from backside gate, which had two small pillars, on which Botanical Garden was written. Today I saw group’s children, escorted by their school teachers, entering in this garden with cheerful faces. Its opening time is 10AM to 6 PM. On entering in the garden, first thing, which I noticed was the divided and pleated base of some the big trees .Then in the centre of the park was statue of two white bulls in fighting mode .There after I saw a fern enclosure, where many types of exotic ferns were planted. Then there were some plants covered by green shade. Center of attraction for the children is a Joy train, running across the garden. I saw a replica of typical small platform named Jagjeewan-Vihar .Many plants have grown bigger ,forming beautiful arcade type appearance .Besides ,there is a musical fountain in this garden ,which was not working today. The garden is not well maintained as it should be. Walk inside the Botanical garden was definitely a very pleasing experience. It’s must see attraction of Pondicherry .

I am sure this botanical garden was once magnificent. However reconstruction work has not made a dent in the devastation caused by the cyclone. Not worth a visit at the moment. Really it should not be open until replanting is complete and restored to its former glory

Picture on google is the only view to see in botanical garden. Very poorly maintained and looks like a forest.. One good part is toy train for kids wherein our kids can enjoy. There is fish aquarium to see its good. There are other places in pondicherry to enjoy.
