Lovely

We all hired bikes, crossed the bamboo bridge, an experience itself, and spent the day riding around the island, talking to locals, waving at the children who ran out to see us, even popped into a temple along the way. Beautiful rural Cambodia can be found here. Plenty of fresh fruit sold at roadside stalls too. Well worth the day out :)

driving along and around the Koh Paen Island is a relaxing, quiet one day undertaking. plenty of fields and cows, horses, children... a very rural Cambodia still here.

Lush and Green

After our walk on the bamboo bridge, we took a car over the concrete bridge to drive around the island. Khmer stilt houses abound amidst the greenery. We stopped so that I could buy some pomelos at a roadside stand. The island is quiet and peaceful, but I bet there will be significantly more construction now that a more substantial bridge has been built.

Beautiful idyllic island off the beaten path. Very friendly and welcoming locals, scenic island full of controversy - poor households next to relatively fancy houses next to exuberant looking temples

A peaceful island 💞🤗

If you're living in the city and get tired with stress and environment around then this is a place where you can refresh and recharge your batteries😊 Koh Paen island is peaceful place, most people there are farmers but everyone so friendly they always smile whenever they see tourist. I was there with my mom we take a tuk tuk to drive us around, but the best part besides of enjoying the view of nature my mom luckily found her cousin that she didn't meet for almost twenty years, what a blessing day.

Beautiful island
Jan 2018 • Couples
For some reason we hadn't expected the island to be so big but we cycled around it for quite a few hours! cycling through tiny villages, fields, temples it is absolutely beautiful and relaxing. If you access it by the concrete bridge it is totally free. You can stop along the way for food and refreshments.

Rural Vistas
Jan 2018 • Couples
In some sense, I am not even sure that this island in the Mekong is a "sight". There are no tickets, no obvious attractions, no tour guides and no signboards or other tourist information. It is just a geographical feature really.

On the other hand, it offers authentic vistas of rural Khmer life, with wooden houses on stilts, corn and rice fields, haystacks, water buffalo and people going about their daily lives. You can drive over the new concrete bridge and continue on (via ferry) to the extraordinary wooden pagoda of Maha Leap. By bike, it can offer an interesting rural adventure.

Absolutely beautiful island, so much scenery and it’s lovely to see how people live here. Everyone’s friendly and there’s a wicked bamboo restaurant here to enjoy.
