About
Kardamena is a coastal village of Kos about 30 km from the city of Kos and 7 km from the airport. According to the 2011 census it has 1,650 inhabitants. Ancient Alassarna, one of the six ancient municipalities of the island, has been an important religious center of the time, as evidenced by the temple of Apollo and others, smaller temples, antiquity and Byzantine times.

On our first day in Kardamena, myself and my children went for a walk and ended up in here by chance. The man met us at the door and was very knowledgable about the museum and Kos itself. He explained some of the equipment to my children and showed them pictures. Lovely little place.

it is a great effort by a non profit organisation, on the seafront, admission fee is cheap & is worth a visit, in order to see some of "old ways" of Kardamena !

This lovely museum relies on your generosity to function by way of donations only - the authorities do not fund it.
The volunteers love to see visitors and want to keep and share their Greek heritage with you.
I am amazed at how much is on display and what enthusiasm and tenacity they have to keep the doors open ( even at odd times )
Hosts David or Yannis are welcoming and make you feel relaxed and at home.
Very very polite people.
Please support the museum as I have done over the years for future generations and visitors.
The volunteers are too proud to tell you any of this - so I have.
Thanks John.

I got married here in 2015. Such a little gem hidden away on the harbour. If we weren't getting married here I would never of known it was here.
Defiantly worth a visit, there is so much to see

Interesting museum with fascinating photo albums. The volunteer curator was good to talk to. It is open 3 days a week and is found by the harbour.
