My fiancé and I visited Chateau Mouton Rothschild by serendipity! We have been travelling southwestern France for approx 2.5 wks starting off in Provence, so I was not sure we would get an appointment when I only called 3 days prior to our visit. But we were lucky and fortunate enough and boy were we in for a surprise.

The tour lasts approx 2.5hrs and costs 55 Euros. I would say this is definitely money well spent, as you do have the opportunity to try their 3 wines: 2011 Chateau Clerc Milon, 2008 Chateau D'Armailhac (my second fav) and of course the 2007 Chateau Mouton Rothschild (my fav, and ready to drink now if you want). Their wines if you purchase, are very well priced, and if you wish to drink now, then purchase 2006, 2007 etc. 2010 was a stellar year, but this one I would lay it down for at least 8 yrs or more. If you are interested in purchasing wines outside of the winery at a slightly better rate, then visit L'Avant Garde, in Margaux. Wayne (owner) has stellar prices, super friendly and very helpful!

Ok...the wine tour was great! We are Canadians and so were on time, however, it was unfortunate that the rest of our tour group, chose not to be as polite and several of them showed up late (1.5hrs late), hence this changed the flow and the dynamics of our tour. Not our guides fault, but I do believe the winery should insist people be on time and if they are 15-20mins, then they miss the tour. Versus showing up late, dominating the presentation offered by our guide as well as having us stop every few seconds for photo-ops. This was the only downside of our tour.

You are given a history of the vineyard, previous owners etc, provided the description of the wine making process et al. Followed by a very interesting tour of the museum which holds amazing pieces collected by the Baron himself (one piece was dated back to the BC time) and you are also provided a tour of their exhibition of paintings of labels, which I found truly fascinating and very interesting.
Finally, the tasting of the wines I listed above.

We did purchase 3 wines and will be enjoying these with our family back in Canada.
A dream come true visit for me. This winery are far more friendly and accepting to visitors that are not necessarily from Asia than Chateau Margaux!! it is unfortunate that this has happened, but apparently this is a trend that is happening more and more and I experienced this a few times on my travels in France.

Most wine tours are one hour, but Mouton Rothschild lasted 2.5 hours and got deep into the history and wine making process. Because Mouton is one of five premiere grand crus in the world, there's a special feel to the tour. Like eating at Michelin starred restaurant or celebrating a big birthday, it feels different. Our guide did a good job walking us through the winery and answering questions from the group. I wished we booked a private tour, but not sure they do that. Anyway, the tour is well worth it if you're a fan of wine. Needless to say the tasting at the end is amazing. Everyone was taking pictures with their wine and the wine bottle. At $700 a bottle, can you blame us?!

One of the best wines you can taste. The tour is interesting and include everything from wine making process to artifact collection to wine tasting.

Unfortunately I never went. I contacted them far in advance in January to schedule a tour. They responded that I was early and to contact them in April. When I did as they asked and contacted them again In April they told me they were sold out lol. I I asked again and told them that I had done exactly as they requested and that I had saved a day for them and that we would come at anytime at their convenience. They still gave me the finger! What a joke of an operation. Please Do not give them your 250 euros (cost pp of their tour.)

My wife and I spent a few days in Bordeaux on 6th and 7th September. We were welcomed by several vineyards where the guides were charming, informative and
generous with the wines they gave us to taste. The chateaux included Beaumont, Palmer, Margaux and Angludet. However a huge disappointment was our visit to Mouton Rothschild. We were charged 60 Euro each and processed through with a dozen other visitors in contrast to the other vineyards where we were taken around on our own free of charge. The guide was clearly not knowledgeable which was irritating and dragged us around looking at artefacts which we had not come to see. The purpose of our visit was to sample their wines and see the original paintings which had been used on their different vintages over the years. After two hours we had to leave and asked if we could at least walk through the gallery but this was denied. So no wine tasting or sight of the paintings. We do have some of their wine in our cellar but no longer look forward to drinking it.

This was one of my favourite wine tours from my Bordeaux trip. Mouton Rothschild is really a state of the art winery and it was amazing to be able to tour the facility. Our guide Melanie was very polished and was able to answer questions about the wine making process as well as the history of the estate and Rothschild family.

The tour also included a visit to the art and label gallery. Both of which were very impressive. It ended with a wine tasting of three outstanding wines.

1. Chateau d'Armailhac 2012
2. Chateau Clerc Milon 2014
3. Chateau Mouton Rothschild 2011

All three were 1st wines from vineyards owned by the Rothschilds. The bottles were also from very good vintages. I found some wineries on my trip often let us taste the lesser quality vintages.

We went to the Mouton Rothschild Chateau with high expectations. We were very disappointed. After a two hour walking tour which was interesting and included the amazing history of the Rothchild's, we (a group of 7) were lead to a very small room that posed as a tasting room with three stools.-- but no chairs. We were ready for the highpoint of the tour but instead were served wines that were in large part off 'vintage' years (we were told that - too hot, too rainy) that were not very good. One would think that for 55 euros, we would have been offered a seat at a beautifully set table and served a small selection of meats and cheese to accompany what purports to be the finest wine in Bordeaux. Instead we were left with a bad taste in our mouth-- not what one should expect from a tour of Mouton Rothschild. The Baron would not have been happy.

Would agree with the review from billy z. We have been to some amazing wineries , this did not past the test. At 40 euro per person and tasting 2013 wines from the barrel , not even released was very disappointing. Felt like a complete rip off.if you want to go somewhere amazing try pontet canet, which is fabulous.

What a fantastic tour (last 2 1/2 hours), with a great tasting including four of the chateau's wines including the 2012 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild and the 2017 Chateau Aile d'Argent

So much to see here from the full winery visit to the fabulous Label Gallery and an Impressive Art Collection.

Certainly one of the highlights of our trip to Bordeaux.

In addition to the “standard” wine tour and tasting, we had a wonderful time in the gallery for the painting of labels with originals artworks from Chagall, Picasso, Dali, and Miro.

The Museum of Wine in Art was sensational as promised. Very impressive collection of Chinese porcelain and artifacts from Sung, Ming, and Qing Dynasties.

If you are a fan of Mouton Rothschild, don’t miss it. The visit will definitely intensify your affection for the Château and your appreciation for the wine.
