I work near by, and with a few Iraqi's who go the University and they have shown me pictures and from time to time i help them by answering questions they don't know the answers to that the professors gave them. I have driven by the university on the way to the airport and it is a beautiful area with well kept grounds. Its a shame that the area outside of it is filled with trash and broken down vehicles from decades ago along the highway. This is an oil rich town, so there are drill rigs all over the place, and a constant black smoke from the burning crude 24 hours a day.

Very beautiful city and very nice and generous people. It is great place for visiting during winter. AL-Ashar very nice and famous center for shopping. Sanam mountain a wonderful nature, and Shatt AL-Arab where is the wonderful netting of Tigris and Euphrates revers and there are amazing Hotels and restaurants there. Finally, Basra University is a great University with marvelous location and great staff.
