Nice sunny day to visit this valley. Such a great place, the river, the rock, the small typical village... but... too much people. Impossible to take a correct picture or to stay quite. Very hard to find a parkplace (cost 2.-per hour).
We prefer to go and walk in the upper valley.
If you want to visit a valley with less tourists, prefered go into the valle maggia. The river is great too and the village more pleasant.

Came here as a day trip from Zurich. This little place is absolutely gorgeous. You can go across the old stone bridge to the opposite side too. The drive up to this spot was really scenic too. Recommended.

Love it! Perfect place for easy hiking. If you don't like to hike under the sun, here is the right place for you. Beautiful river view with Nature, lovely bridge. I enjoyed a lot, love to come back again.

After taking the train to Locarno and renting a car, we drove into the valley. Our first stop was our hotel in Vogorno and after dropping off our belongings we went to the ponte dei salti in Lavertezzo. We found parking by the bridge and walked down to the river. The water was freezing - but refreshing - on this hot day and our kids and we really enjoyed climbing the rocks, swimming in the crystal clear water and watching a few brave, and potentially crazy, souls jump from the bridge into the river below. It was a crowded scene but for the afternoon we were there it was a perfect place for our family to enjoy.
The next morning we drove to Sonogno, walked through town and on to the waterfall at Froda. Here we had the falls to ourselves. After some time playing in the water, we went on to hike up the valley to the village of Puscen Negro. Along the way, we found more waterfalls to play in and great views of the valley and peaks surrounding it. Again, we had the path all to ourselves.
I cannot recommend this valley enough...especially as a place to visit with older children (ours ranged in age from 11 to 16). Beautiful sights, refreshing, clear, blue-green waters and plenty of small villages along the way where one can stop to eat and drink.

we did a mountain bike trail through the valley which was absolutely amazing. This is the perfect chance to get in touch with the beautiful nature and the very special culture especially the architecture.

Too bad that it is so crowded in summer...

The Verzasca Valley is a wonderful way to spend a day. We took the post bus from Locarno and rode to the head of the valley in Sonogno. There we left the bus to walk to the waterfall, then ate at the Grotto Efra, one of the many little restaurants dotting the valley. The food was authentic Ticinese and delicious.

Youncan walk from Sonogno to Frasco, about a 40 minute walk. There, you can take the bus back down the valley or walk about another 50 minutes to Gerra where you can pick up the bus. The entire walk takes about six hours, and there are villages along the way where you can eat, get something to drink or take the bus back doan.

The scenery is breathtaking, the air is fresh, and the walk envigorating. There's no better way to spend a day in Ticino.

Lavertezzo (the bridge) and the stones/water around them. Some nice Grottos to have lunch. You can park around 500m before Lavertezzo (free parking, and the Lavertezzo ones often full). And have a walk on the other side of the Verzasca River.

Dont forget to stop at the Bungie Jumping area on the dam. Fun to watch.

It's a must do if your in ticino.
We got there by bus number 231, (try to catch the earliest one), we went all the way to a station called Motta something . Once you get out just walk along the street until you see a yellow hiking trail sign that leads you to a bridge, fromthere you can just hike down all the way to Lavertezzo.
Make sure you chekc the bus schedule since there aren't a lot of buses...

We did this visit as a day trip out of Locarno and were very pleased that we did! The steep twisting road up into the hills was fun to drive and then you are 'hit' with the stunning wall of the Verzasca Dam. It is easy to park very close to it ( 1frc per hour) and then it is a very short walk through to the dam. Forget about the 'James Bond' jumping bit, it is a stunning construction and great fun to watch the bungee jumpers ( even though I think they should be certified!). The views of the water , cliffs, valley etc are lovely and there is a well stocked shop on site as well. Then drive further up the vally to the star attraction at Lavatezzo, being the Di Salti Bridge and the stunningly beautiful river/ rocks below. The water is so clear and the stones are very attractive with the smooth erosion and colourful strata. It is very easy to access the rocks and allows you to get very close to the river and take a dip or just soak your feet. It is very popular and although I thought at first it was a bit crowded, I soon realised that it did not detract from the place at all and to be honest the people jumping into the river off of the bridge and high rocks provided wonderful entertainment. There are plenty of vantage points and seats to sit and 'soak up' the beauty. There is limited parking ( probably 30/40 cars) but people are coming and going all the time so there is not too much problem in finding a space at 2frcs per hour. We stayed for about 3 hrs and then drove on further up the valley which was very scenic and enjoyable offering lots of views of the river etc. We were aware of regular buses operating along the valley so I guess it would be very easy to do a 'hop on hop off' and walk visit to the valley as well. A thoroughly recommended visit for the area.

We lived in a hotel in Ascona. But to miss such a beautiful place as the Verzasca valley, even there could be no question!
To get to this valley by car about 20-25 minutes. The road is very beautiful, it passes by the dam on the Verzasca River. I recommend to go in the morning until the road is heavily loaded. And tourists less. It is best to go on a sunny day, then the impressions of this beauty will remain long in the memory. Verzasca River before flowing into an artificial reservoir (man-made) runs along the beautiful valleys, where you need to go and advise children and adults.
It is best to go to Lavertezzo town. It has several parking lots, where it is convenient to leave the car and go for a walk on foot. But if you wish, I advise you to drive ahead for about 800 meters (in the direction of the source of the river, to the mountains) and right next to the river will be parking. From it only a few tens of meters a great place where you can swim (like "Beach Area"), to relax, sunbathe and make great photos. But be warned: the water ice even in the summer in the river flow is not warming up more than 7-8 degrees. Therefore it is very important to have a sunny hot weather, otherwise it will be uncomfortable.
Captivates huge white boulders on a background of beautiful mountains and the turquoise water. These kinds will not leave anyone indifferent.

If hungry - then along the road in the local villages there are several restaurants and cafes. But I advise you to do like we did: go back in Corippo town to move to the opposite side of the river through a beautiful bridge and the narrow beautiful road up to the center of very old city, consisting of just a few buildings. It is right on the precipice of a small restaurant Osteria Corippo, offering beautiful views of the valley, mountains and ravine.
