We Love,Tugun, it's the quiet end of the south coast and that's why it is so perfect, the sandy beach is so wide with soft sand, the ocean a magnificent shade of turquoise. There are families, dog lovers and mid lifers to seniors. It has an amazing surf club, a great walking path, lots of well placed benches to just sit and watch the oceans and the migrating whales. Tugun has interesting shops, cafés and the people are warm and friendly. It is definitely slower but it's a better, no it's the best pace on the coast.

Normally in Tugan I stay at the Crystal Beach Holiday Apartments but this time I stayed at the San Simeon. Now, the joys of staying at the San Simeon is it is still within the Tugan Beach district. Like my last trip earlier this year I spent every morning and nearly even afternoon at the Tugan Beach. There was no rubbish to be seen and the sand as usual was soft and warm to walk on. It was a pleasure to be able to come back to this place months later to find it in the same wonderful and beautiful condition.
The only problems is certain times of the day there is a tidal rip so be very careful when swimming there. Also there are no flags to swim between but there is a constant patrol that moves along the beach from time to time. Like before a special truck travels along the beach and sifts the sands of any impurities and gives you an assurance that you wont step on some broken glass or other nasty surprises that may be buried or unseen in the sand.
It is a quiet beach an is not always busy or full of people unlike the beaches that are further up the coast. A great place to take the children to build sandcastles and play in the sun.
Once again I have added some photos of the beach but decided to take a few images a little closer to where the apartments meet along with the beach just to show how wonderful the surrounding area is.

I was a guest at a dear friend's wedding on the beach at Tugun recently. I hadn't actually been to Tugun beach before that, even though I lived on the gold coast for several years in a previous lifetime. ;)

What a gorgeous spot it is. The sand is soft and clean and the ocean clear and it was all just truly picturesque af. I look forward to staying with these friends (waaay after the honeymoon of course, hehe) and enjoying some long walks along the beach. Now I see why she brags about her morning walks - what a spectacular way to enjoy life as the sun comes up and sets.

I spent every morning with my family on this beach for hours swimming and it was incredible! A special truck constantly sifted the sand for any rubbish or contamination every once in a while and the sand was nice and warm under your bare feet. At certain times during the day there were tide rips to be aware of but besides that it was one of the best and most amazing places on our family holiday. This beach was a real credit to the council that manages this area. I would highly recommend finding accommodation of some type near this beach because it is never packed full of people and is very peaceful.

Terrible. Horrible. The worst. Never ever ever go there. If you're vegetarian... PLEASE EXPECT THE WORST EXCUSE FOR VEGO EVER.. Please never go there... It's says it's MSG FREE.. But... It's not.. From the second of tasting this foul pretend food you'll be dehydrating and feeling sick. Don't eat this food unless you want to feel really unwell. It's awful in every way 😞

Take a walk along Tugun beach - the views up and down the coast are spectacular. Sit on the sand, go for a swim, look for shells, build a sandcastle, take a picnic.... whatever you like to do. There is ample parking at various places along the beach (you might like to get there early on weekends, to beat the crowds). Dogs are also allowed in some areas. It's a short walk to Tugun Village to find takeaways, or to the local hotel for a cold drink. Remember to swim between the flags!

I'm back in Oz after three weeks in Vietnam and I've come to visit my parents in law at Tugun. Tugun beach is the best beach on the coast. Quiet, easy parking, beer in the Tugun club afterwards. Much quieter that Coolangatta or Surfers Paradise

The beach at Tugun is clean and manned by lifeguards; It can be accessed via the walkway from Toolona Street car park (and toilets etc.) by the Golden Riviera Beach Resort.. Long walks can be taken in both directions along the beach. Last visited in October 2012
