The views going over these magnificent mountains actually take your breath away! We travelled on the Bernina Express today and were blessed with wonderful clear blue skies which meant we saw the very best of every turn! Highly recommended!
We travelled this route twice during our week in Switzerland. There had been heavy snow in the preceding week but we enjoyed lovely sunshine so we could really appreciate the stunning scenery for the whole of the railway journey over the Pass. The whole experience...More
We took the scheduled train from Tirana - it has windows that can be pulled down so you can easily take photos without getting reflections in the glass. Much better than the train with panoramic style windows. There was plenty of leg room and comfortable...More
Travelling from St Moritz to Tirano through stunning scenery via lakes, glaciers, this train ride is well worth a visit. The only downside was the seating which is pretty cramped. The train journey is approx 2.5 hours and would be boring for children as there...More

We are just back from a week at Lake Como and were taken by coach to St Moritz up the Bernina Pass and down the Maloja Pass back to the hotel. It's a full day and some of the driving would be difficult, esp. with oncoming traffic and tight bends. I would have loved to travel the Glacier Express from Tirano to SM but that was not on offer.
