Really enjoyed the walk around the Achensee. We clocked up 16 miles but that was with a couple of minor detours - one of which was due to poor signposting at Achenkirch where the lakeside path has to go inland somewhat (presumably because the farm...More

Took the cog train up the mountain. It was stuffy in the carriage but opening the window let the rain in. The journey is boring and incredibly slow. The lake is beautiful,we intended on swimming but it was a bit chilly so took the two...More

The line is only a few miles long but climbs 1500 feet with a rack and pinion engine. A very leisurely journey with some fantastic views.

Achensee is the largest lake in Austria at almost 1km across and 9km long. The boat trip is something not to be missed. The round trip takes about 2 hours with the ability to get on and off to your heart's delight. Of particular interest...More

Perfect for a relaxing holiday in a quiet resort. Great walking for all abilities and the use of the boats and cog railway open up the area- well worth buying a week ticket- note that dogs must wear a muzzle on the boats.

A great place to visit. Trips on the lake, nice places to relax with a coffee and cake. Plenty of seats on the lake side to sit and watch the world go by. Well worth a visit.

There are two options to chosse from an hour 10 Euro or 20 Euro hour and half. We choose the tour of the whole lake, but the shorter trip would have been better value. The boat gets very busy ans like all the British we...More

41km from Innsbruck, Archensee is a must to visit. It's serenity and peacefulness really felt and make our spirit high. The water is calm & clear turquoise green . The backdrop setting are mountains with snow capped. Rofanseibahn is just next to the bay ....More

If you upgrade your guest card to a holiday card once you are in achensee the train is free of charge , which is what we did. I'm not sure what the charge is as we never had to pay it .
