Great walk and beautiful falls
Mar 2018 • Couples
We would not have known about these falls if our accommodation host had not recommended it. We were so glad to go. The drive there took around 20mins on the old dirt road. Any car can make it and you can get there yourself, no guide needed. Drive until you can’t go any further and you each a white gate. Park around there. We didn’t register our names but found out later we should have done. we didn’t see where to sign though.

Walk through the gate and take a left up a grassy path past a power station. This leads to the fantastic trail which starts off with banana plantation then leads deep into the forest which is magnificent. Tonnes of birds and big butterflies too. The path is pretty easy but recommend proper shoes as it can be muddy/slippery. There are only a couple of points where you need to ‘climb’ up or down but you will need to cross the river twice which we took our shoes off for. We took around an hour and a half on the way going very slow to appreciate our surroundings. Going back was around 40-45 minutes.

When you reach the waterfall it’s so amazing and rewarding. If you’re lucky you might be the only people there to take it all in. We ‘swam’ but only in the part closest to shore. I wouldn’t swim close to the fall because the power and current is strong and you could risk an accident.

If you love nature, waterfalls and hiking then this is an absolute must if you’re in the area.
