10,000 and more daily visitors to all the different temples. Wow, purchase insent in town for 15 yuan, much higher priced closer to attractions. 1,000 picture opportunities. no western tourists seen all day! local airport on mainland with bus shuttle to port 10 yuan. 15 min boat ride 30 yuan, packed, may use lower section to find a seat. lots of private... hostel... accomodations around 250 yuan. clean room with shower, a/c and tv. bus shuttle very convenient around town and from and to temples 5 to 10 yuan. highly tecommended, but 160 yuan .. island fee... ! meutermedia

My husband and I were in Zhoushan ( an island close to Hangzhou China) in late April. Visited Putuo Shan temples and Guanyin statue. Although it was lot of walking, you can take the cable car up to the top of the mountain. Nice scenery. Coming down we used the steps. ( around 1,000 steps). Buses were there too. Lot of cinnamon trees. You will see a lot of Buddhist monks and devotees near the monasteries and temples. To get to this island you have to catch a ferry. The ferry terminal could get quite crowded, but ferry service is quite efficient and very convenient.

If you come with old people with leg problem do think twice. This statue location was about 400metres away from the bus station. Walking up the slope and climbing steps will be quite difficult for those who needs assistance in walking.
However the scenery and the statue was magnificent. It was really wonderful and there were many devotees praying.

Putou Shan at Zhou Shan another piece and holy site seeing places that must be visited by Buddhist. At mountain top, the view is very beautiful . A strong body strength is required to claim along the mountains steps which more than 1000 steps . Peace and cool area . A guided tour by private tour guide on Jack make our trip more fun an enjoyable. Thanks to Jack for bringing us there and allocate us a good hostel with reason rates. 👍😊

I visited the above with 2 friends . The Island is very scenic and accessible through a ferry. One can experience the monastaries or enjoy a stroll in the mountains

A must see. Short ferry ride to the island from Zhoushan. Can be extremely busy during peak season with lines over an hour. $18 dollars for the ferry ride each way and about 60 cents to enter the temples. Lots of walking, or wait in lines for the shuttles.

Unless you are a buddhist, there's nothing much to see after a long walk. You will find a HUGE statue and people swarming everywhere. If you have an intention, this is probably a good place to pray for it. Nice view though.

Nice view and surroundings. Concrete all around and trash. Tourism is now a good business in China. For newcomers it may be exotic. Nevertheless if You are in the area it is good to come here.
