Interesting history about how they invented elaborated machines to get the salt out of the ground. The building was even more nice. Since it is a small place you do need more than an hour.

The building, the Xiqin Guildhall, dates from the 18th Century and is in itself very impressive. Also, the staff were very nice when I enquired about the location of the Sanghai Well - which is not within walking distance by the way! The lady there...More

Very interesting if you stop and read. A smallish museum by Chinese standards but full of information. The gift shop is not all that interesting as it is mainly salt wrapped up fancy.

The only museum in Zigong, not bad, there're many models about how to dig the salt at 200 years ago there, but, the price of ticket was changed, from 10 to 20, so sad

This eighteenth century building from the heyday of the salt trade is arguably the finest monument in Zigong. It has two massive door guardians, a grand entranceway, some large courtyards with opera stages and, most impressively of all, gorgeous carving throughout. It is worth lingering...More

Don't waste your time, very boring and dull vibe. Half of the museum was closed, and all the models showing old mining techniques were falling apart. Informative, even in English. You would have to really like salt to want to come here

The salt industry museum, housed in a splendid 18th century building, tells the remarkable story of salt exploitation in Zigong, which has been going on for centuries, with real prowesses of technical innovation in drilling and salt production. The bilingual (Chinese/English) displays are modern and...More

Without reading reviews by other contributors, I never would have stopped here. The Xi Qin Guildhall is attractive in its own right, and I was surprised at how interesting the history of well salt production was. Quite a bit of information in English and pictures...More
