It is very interesting to find all the details of Ching Dynasty government. Many famous people served here in this important district near the Emperor. A lot of painting of the Emperors in Ching Dynasty.

As one that knows very little of Chinese history, this was a very enjoyable stop on our journey. We hired a guide that really explained all the history to us. She only spoke Chinese, so one of the guys with us did the translating. There are some interpretive signs, but they don't go into the depth that the guide did.
This place is in a busy district with lots of shopping. After visiting the Government grounds, we walked around the town and took in the hustle and bustle.

The place where the Governor of Baoding used to reside and did his work for the emperor. Gives a clear impression of how things were run here during the Qing dynasty.

It is a good museum to learn about Qing dynasty, If you understand Chinses. If not, you will be boring. I recommed you to go with Chinese friends. You have to pay small money to enter this museum and suitable for 1~ 2 hours. You will be figure out the historical organization, culture, office and accommodation of Qing dynasty.

Awesome experience. Well worth the visit to see the old photos of past emperors etc, preserved rooms with the old furniture etc intact, and so much more. It’s directly across the road from the Lotus Pond, so it’s easy to see both places in one day. I visited in early 2002 and again in Sept 2010.

This place gives you a view of the past history of Baoding in China. Good to visit and to see all the old things and the living conditions of the people back in the days.

This is the Governor of Baoding. A walk though this will take you back in history. Old history to see for the westerners. Because most of the western word do not really know the real history of China. A must visit if you are in Baoding City. Baoding is an old city that dates back many centuries.

Unless you know your Chinese history, you would not know that Baoding was previously the capital of Hebei province before Shijiazhuang. There are still many places in Baoding, like this one, that go back to Qing dynasty times. We went with a cousin of my wife and had a great time learning about the place. Was not overrun with tourists and we could amble at whatever speed we chose. Interesting for students of Chinese culture and history.

I visited the palace with a friend from Baoding. There was a tour guide who we followed round and my friend translated for me. I would have been lost without him! There was so much to learn and was very atmospheric too. Great visit for those interested in history and Qing dynasty.
