Driving up already makes huge impression, view up there as well. After it's only better, hanging bridge and stairways... few steps which makes difference as you would left all other things hundreds meters behind you. Take care about that moment when freedom is with you.

An amazing experience to say the least! Everything from the cable car ride up to standing out on the Stairway to Nothingness as if you're floating out next to a mountain, nothing falls short of breathtaking here.

Not for the faint hearted but a spectacular experience together with the cable car ride up. Make sure its a fine day when you go but even then the mist and clouds can roll in. Not part of the Summer card, so there is an...More

An amazing experience to be so high above the ground. Especially when it is slightly moving. Price is 3eur and not suitable for dogs unless in a bag.

The online booking procedure helps to avoid queues and delays. The Gondola ride was lots of fun, especially as we were standing on the roof. The temperature dropped rapidly - so make sure you take warm clothes. Unfortunately the view from the skywalk was obscured...More

The package of ´sunrise & breakfast´ is quite expensive but the scenery is really fantastic at dawn. Even my teenager said standing up at 3.45 was worth it :) Skywalk and the stairs to nowhere are quite knee softening. Breakfast was rich and tasty. But...More

A little known secret. But it’s a must go. Beautiful view and breathtaking. The sky ridge and the ice palace shouldn’t be missed. It can be a bit scary for the faint hearted. The top is a must see. The glacier is not visible from...More

It was a 900km done within 28hours, it was an amazing unforgettable trip. Unfortunately we have missed the salt mine and ice cave visit, but we did the bridge skywalk experience, and it was like a dream.

Sorry I dont know, we had a hire car but I suspect you need to get to Schladming and then there is a bus network out of Schladming.

Five Fingers, or Skywalk Dachstein? (5 Replies)
I'm going to Hallstatt this weekend, and only have the money to go to one of these attractions. Does anyone have any preferences either way? Five Fingers has the view over the Hallstatt lake, but the Skywalk has the suspension bridge and the stairs to nothingness... I'm not sure! Agh.

Hi I assume you know the skywalk is around the other side of the mountain to the 5 fingers. Accessed from another valley? Cheaper to do the 5 fingers and you can do the ice cave at the same time. Both have stunning views. Skywalk has a higher thrill factor. One of the five fingers does have a glass floor panel if you want to look into nothingness. :-)

Kitzsteinhorn vs Ramsau am Dachstein (4 Replies)
Hi, We are coming in from Vienna to see Austrian Alps. Planning on a night stay in Salzburg, see the Ice caves before moving towards Zell am See. Kitzsteinhorn and Grossglockner Scenic drive is on my TO DO list. We will be in this area for 3 days. From there we are going to Innsbruck for 2 days. I came across Ramsau am Dachstein (Skywalk Dachstein, Dachstein Suspension Bridge, Silberkarklamm, Dachsteinuberquerung) in Tripadvisor and it looks lovely. My question - does this place give...More

Must-sees in Austria for road trip (12 Replies)
My husband and I are planning a road trip around Austria. We're in the early stages of planning but we have a list of places we'd be interested in and would love people's suggestions on anywhere we might of missed, places we should avoid or strike off our list, or any good itineraries/routes to take etc? We have no time limit at the moment, we're planning to take our time and see as much as we're interested in. All advice and suggestions welcome, as I said, very early stages at the moment!...More
