Spent a summer working as a volunteer at National Mexican Turtle Center years ago and their work and dedication to turtle conservation and welfare is incredible. As mentioned by other reviewers, the museum is small, but it serves as a window into the amazing (and...More

I was a little disappointed by this turtle 'sanctuary' in Mazunte. Many of the bigger turtles were in a pool with no rocks or anything resembling their natural habitat in the wild. They tended to just swim back and forth aimlessly so if you want...More

This sad little place was dirty, deserted and depressing when I visited, so much so that I was not even tempted to visit the several times I walked up from the nearby Posada del Architecto to visit it.

We had a great time seeing all the animals. We learned a lot. Nice to see Mexico preserving the turtles instead of harvesting them. Cheers for the conservation efforts and glad the price of admission goes towards that task. Would recommend for all travelers regardless...More

Originally the investment on the center looks like was positive for the town, today conditions are not in good shape, some tanks water is not clear, difficult to see the turtles, aquarium is with few fishes. I hope authorities could do something, to restore the...More

Loads of turtles of many varieties, but a pretty deserted attraction, and so very hot to walk around. Cheap at only 35 pesos for admission, and a quick stop that won't take more than an hour. Perhaps at other times you might see turtles hatching...More

It was ok for a quick visit. I am sure they are try to conserve species. A turtle we saw was in a small tank with a cleaning filtration system with a number of plastic tubes nearby, which the turtle found distressing to navigate around.

Lacked what we thought would be more of a history than an oversized aquarium. Exghbits could have been explained a little better to make it more interesting.

We went there presuming we were going to help the conservation and we got out with a complete different idea. They have sea turtles in tanks so small i couldn't fit there just for exposition. The tanks of the aquarium are small and badly prepared....More

Not completly agree with this kind of places but with the current exploitation of the turtle I think they are doing a great job.
