Took a scooter ride from Mazunte to here and loved the Laguna Tour. Unlike anything else you'll see in Mazunte. Birds, iguanas, turtles, oh my! Plus, super cool to support this community that was devastated by a hurricane that now depends on this kind of ecotourism and is actively working to conserve the Laguna. I think there are some guides... More

I went on this tour expecting to see a few birds. This lagoon ended up being a surprising highlight of my trip to Oaxaca. You get taken through a rich ecosystem with a huge variety of wildlife packed into this lagoon, from crocodiles, to turtles and iguanas resting on branches as you pass closely beneath them in a little dinghy.... We were lucky to have the boat just for our family and the knowledgeable guide Jesus taught us so much about the reserve. The boat tour is magnificent and it was a delight learning about the bird species spotting the wild crocodiles - we saw about 4 big ones! Such a shame how the hurricanes destroyed so much of the... A wonderful and inexpensive hand paddled boat ride for about an hour around the lagoon where you see crocs, iguanas and more types of birds than you can imagine. Bring your camera. Go with the red shirt guys at the end of the road - there are very concerned about the ecosystem and know their facts. Their boats also seem... More

Nice scenery, friendly guide. Short tour, didn't see any wild crocodiles, but still a neat little island with some animals. price was cheap - we were happy to pay for the worthy cause of animal preservation.

We went with the red shirts because were heard the white shirt guides had music blaring in their boats. Not sure if that is true. Only 50 pesos (about $3) per person is realy too cheap for this service. A very knowledgeable guide paddled us around the lagoon. He knew what to look for and besides some very large crocodiles,... We showed up at 3:30 pm and were on our way in minutes. A group of four we had our own guide, Hugo, who was both knowledgeable and funny. We saw crocs wild in the lagoon as well as on the "island" . This is where they have several "rescued" animals as well as a small shop/restaurant with some delicious... More

I was not expecting much but this was a very pleasant surprise. First off, there are guides who speak Spanish, English, and French. They give an excellent tour. But first the green mangroves, palm trees and green grass lawns are a nice change from Huatulco in the dry season. If you don't have a hat, buy one at an excellent... More

Playa La Ventanilla was destroyed in 2015 by a storm which brought twenty foot waves inland. Gone are the nesting turtles, the beach, and some of the buildings, but, the island is surrounded by a lagoon with mangroves full of herons, pelicans and different types of other birds, is host to a wildlife sanctuary and rescue for crocks, caymans, honey...
