Great fun Wheelchair visit
Nov 2021 • Friends
Went to see Tim Vine at the Charles Cryer Theatre with friends. Wheelchair access was straightforward, simple slopes to get into the theatre. Level access to the ground floor bar. Lift up to the theatre on level 1.

Theatre staff came to find us on the ground floor ahead of the show to ensure we knew how to get into the theatre and reserved us seating in the front row. Very considerate as the rest of the seating is unreserved, first come first served.

(NB the only negative is that unlike most other theatres there is no reduction for the seat price for the carer seat).

Highly recommended.

Fantastic Venue
Oct 2021
What a hidden gem - CryerArts in Carshalton, 7 of us went to see The Jerseys last night, they were fantastic. The venue was amazing, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was electric. Would definitely recommend a visit. We're going again next month.

Fabulous Jazz Club
Sep 2021
I went with a couple of friends to the Jazz Club at the Charles Cryer on the 15th Sep and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The Tony Wood Quartett was very good and so was the atmosphere. We have already booked for the next Jazz event on the 13/10 and are very much looking forward to it. Just one more point, the drinks are very reasonably priced!

What would have been a really lovely experience spoiled by the suggestion that we were leaving without paying our bill
Sep 2021
We’d had a very pleasant evening, with great service from the bar. Food was much better than when we had visited in the early days of the Spotlight opening. There was live music so we lingered longer than we had intended. Settled our bill at the bar with the helpful and friendly young guy who had served us all night. As we began to walk out of the door a woman appeared who hadn’t either taken our orders or served us, to be asked have we paid our bill? We had indeed and felt very insulted for it to be suggested that we had not in front of a bar full of people. Perhaps she should have checked their electronic ordering and payment system before asking what was an embarrassing and insulting question to a customer who had paid in full.
We were very offended. What was a lovely evening was very marred with a bitter taste left, we are unlikely to return as would not want to have it suggested that we were dishonest ever again.

Happy atmosphere, excellent food and drink
Apr 2021
We went on Friday night just gone, a relatively late booking of 9pm. All the staff were really lovely and friendly and it was a happy and safe atmosphere. Outside in the tent was perfect given COVID restrictions at the moment.

We ordered a Pizza which was absolutely immense and I would go back just for the Pizza again!

We will definitely be back.

Top-class Sunday lunch!
Oct 2020
This was our first visit and we will certainly come again. A warm welcome got things off to a good start. Being of, shall we say, more advanced years, we were particularly reassured to see the anti COVID regulations were being scrupulously observed, but this in no way detracted from the atmosphere which was relaxed and friendly. The fact that most tables were occupied was also a good sign.

The Sunday menu featured an attractive range of starters, mains and desserts, with vegans catered for at every stage. We love a traditional roast and both chose topside of beef, which was cooked to absolute perfection (generous portion too!) and served with roasties beautifully crisp on the outside, an excellent Yorkshire pudding, lovely gravy and seasonal veg. Good cheerful service too.

Highly recommended for Sunday lunch. Booking advised.

Excellent experience for food and drinks. Amazing selection of wines at reasonable price. Whilst food menu is limited at the moment it is excellent quality and all freshly made. The staff are helpful and happy to serve you at the table. We should all support this wonderful local venue

Wonderful lunch experience at Spotlight
Aug 2020 • Family
Wow what a lovely lunch we had today here - salmon and caper bruschetta, lovely burgers and all in a lovely, friendly, socially distanced environment with friendly staff who couldn’t do enough. Child-friendly and best of all they are participating in the govt scheme so we had three courses and a coffee for £10. Really positive experience and will definitely visit again soon.

Go, GO, GO!

Evening meal at The Charles Cryer Theatre Spotlight restaurant.

£10 on the government Eat Out To Help Out scheme.
The bar and restaurant was well spaced out to comply with COVID19 restrictions.

The staff were polite, friendly and welcoming.
Excellent selection of ales, wine, ciders and spirits.

The food:
Salmon Bruschetta - a plentiful helping of lovely Salmon
Burger and fries. Fresh burgers just a little pink in the middle. Excellent taste and not at all dry.
Chocolate Brownie. Rich, succulent and beautiful!

Excellent food - excellent location.
