We arrived in thick fog! The visitor centre was well sorted out for Covid although the cafe was serving only take out food and drink - on a cold, damp day, it would have been good to have been able to have an inside table. It is likely that there was insufficient traffic to warrant this. We took one of the short walks around the centre which would have been better if there was less fog, but we needed the exercise! We then drove up valley to the dams and suddenly we were out of the fog into brilliant sunshine. Quite an unbelievable experience.

Outstanding scenery. The drive through this area must bevone of the best in wales. The reservoir dams were overflowing creating beautiful pictures. Penbont house is worth a stop for lunch on your visit too

My Welsh wife and I first discovered Elan Valley way back in 2015 after buying our first motor home taking our two Pembrokeshire Corgis. It was a chance discovery we would never forget ! Relishing the rolling gorgeous countryside through breathtaking winding narrow roads, we drove and drove. One wonders why explore famous landmark tourist spots abroad before discovering what UK offers ! We have since taken friends and families after moving house from Berkshire to Builth Wells in Powys. They all thoroughly enjoyed the day trips and so did our dearest two Corgis who are sadly no more. I thought of writing this review as a tribute to them !

Wow what an amazing place, we didn’t walk the trails but we drove to each dam and got out to look and take pictures. The information centre as you come into the complex sells lots of different and interesting items. The ladies working the shop were so helpful and very friendly people.
