We did a circuit of the park and enjoyed the open space and fresh air. There are still some plants and shrubs having a go at flowering which is good. The Planets are mainly reduced to autumn/winter shapes of foliage but still worth a look.
Not many people around on a slightly overcast day today - there's plenty of empty space though even when busier.

There's plenty of open space to wander around when we need to get out for our exercise once a day. On occasion the paths get busy but there's no need to stay on the path to enjoy the fresh air. You can't use the exercise machines at the moment and the cafes and splash pad aren't open but it's still a good place to be.
People are taking it in turns over the Canal bridge and the smaller entrances but the main entrance is wide and open.

Ok I'm local and biased but I doubt if any small town in the UK has a park with the size and facilities West Park has to offer. Tennis courts, bowling green and plenty of cycle and walking routes and a good childrens play area with a splash park plus an onsite cafe.. Its nicely layed out with flopwer gardens and a fox covet so a fantastic way to spend a day.

The park, is a great place for both peace and quiet, or a bit of recreation. The car park, is situated with the gym/swimming pool. With easy walking distance of the train station/town centre. Saturday's it holds the adult parkrun, Sunday's, the Junior parkrun. Long Eaton Rugby Club, a number of council maintained Cricket and Football pitch. It does come with a surrounding berm. Designed as a flood defence. Taken to capacity, it can hold 65 million gallons. It is used more regularly for that, but not to 65 million gallons. The area down towards the cemetery/canal, is the area generally affected. Erewash Council, do a great job with it. West Park, along with the park in Ilkeston, holding the Green Flag Award.

Great outdoor and open space, which when I visited had dog walkers and joggers galore around, walking around the park paths is easy going. Plenty of free on site parking available, only disappointment was that the cafe was not open.

The park is quite clean and maintained and has good play equipment for the kids.
Various entrances and good walks through, there is an attached sports and leisure centre. There is a splash park that is quite good as well although it was closed on my last visit.
There is plenty of space and is also good for dog walkers.

What a great park! There are loads of facilities here - several rugby and cricket pitches, many fields and greens, with superb children's playgrounds. There are also some outside gym/fitness equipment around part of the park.
Facilities for children are plentiful - playgrounds and splashpads, outdoor table tennis - and all for free.
We'll certainly be back here soon!

West Park is home to a rugby club, two cricket clubs and a football club. There are many pitches, plus a skate park and neglected tennis courts. The indoor court is leased to a nearby private school and is accessible during evenings and weekends for a fee. There is also a bowling club.
It is a flat, spacious, unimaginatively landscaped park with paths that cyclists can use. The play park is split into two age groups, the under eight area is separated from the older kids area. Bizarrely the planners decided it wasn’t a good idea for parents to be able to see both playgrounds simultaneously by building a cafe in between. This is open during peak season. There is also a splash pad open during the summer months but during busy times the water tanks take ages to refill. The park itself is a flood plain, occasionally it is deliberately flooded to manage risk to local housing. At one end is a scrubby copse which is a nature reserve. It doesn’t have a good reputation so would avoid. There are lots of dog walkers, many dogs are off-lead so if your dog is nervous or aggressive it may be best to walk elsewhere.

This large green open space in the middle of Long Eaton is a great asset to the town, a good place to get away from the rush of everyday life.
Great facilities form the exercice machines dotted aroud the park to the childrens play area and splash park (seasonal) with tennis courts, skate park, bowling greens and a good little cafe also in the park, also currently (Dec 2019) building a climbing "Go Ape" type facility as well.
Also hosts a number of events throughout the year.
Plus the home of Westpark Leisure centre, another asset to the town.

Hi, where's the best place to park? Is there a car park near the splash pad? Thanks

There is a car park at the leisure centre about a 5 minute walk away, free parking btw, usually not too busy
