Myself and my friend was really looking forward to our visit at Merrist Wood. How this course is allowed to Open amd Charge full price in December is beyond me. There is no mention of the poor course golfing conditions on there website or when you sign in at the course. Everywhere but Tee off and Greens are unplayable, clothing amd equipment is covered in thick mud, your ball lands an inch below ground surface and is always hard to spot. You are constantly slipping and slidding on the surface on the fairway. Complete rip off paying £28, i will be contacting the club directly. Do not visit in these winter months, find a course that can cope with the weather

Played in usual Saturday morning four ball as social comp at home course (Hindhead) that wasn’t of interest.
£30.00pp was paid upfront.
Practice putting green gave us a hint of what lay ahead but did not prepare us for the squelchy mess that was almost all fairways.
Granted it is December but not one of the wettest ever.
Greens were not great but we expected that, boggy fairways and heavily puddles paths less so.
In addition on several holes the yellow stakes indicating ditches were not able to be seen (9 in particular) from tee shot!

Special mention to the less than COVID friendly‘halfway hut’. Shared tongs, each person sliding glass hot plate window open and no masks from staff.

No wonder there was a £5 off a further round offer on the scorecard.
That won’t be needed!

Whilst accepting the time of year, this was a £20pp at best offering.

Thankfully there was a hose on the way out to hose down filthy trolley, bags, shoes etc.

Worst course I have ever played. The Fairways were like Rough. The greens were brown and the bunkers had weeds in them bigger than the club house. Stopped after 9 as the course was unplayable. Also paid for a buggy which had so little power it struggled to get up hills. Genuinely shocking.

The worst golf course I have ever played by a million miles. The state of the place was a disgrace. It was £15 for 18 holes, but even that was too much. The greens were totally unplayable and would have made for poor standard fairways. I understand that it is going to be closed and the whole place will be renovated. They should have closed it already and stopped taking money from people to play this dire course. The grass was long everywhere, there was mud and puddles all over the place and goose mess everywhere. It could be, and probably once was, a good standard course. But the state it is in now means it should be avoided entirely. I’m not surprised there were only two other people on the course with us today.

Terrible condition on the course- almost unplayable. Arrived at 1pm and was suspicious with just 6 cars in the car park. Staff were friendly. Course has amazing potential and scenic but lost 2 balls after hitting the fairway which were simply like a field. The greens completely burnt out- Bunkers not in use. Lack of signs to guide to next hole couldn’t find 2 holes due to this.

Came here 3 weeks ago, didn't enjoy it. Came again yesterday and what a difference 3 weeks make. Course was excellent, greens massively improved and you can see the green keepers have been very busy. Staff were very friendly and keen to help. All in all a much improved experience. In this condition i would thoroughly recommend this course

Cannot recommend this course at all due to the greens.
The greens are terrible. They are rutted, cracked, and grass cover is very sparse which spoils your enjoyment of the course. The lack of care and money being spent is obvious due to the sale situation. A real shame as it is in a beautiful setting and was once a joy to play with good greens and a well-maintained course. We stopped after 9 holes as we were not enjoying the experience.

Completely overgrown but has potential. Lost balls after hitting straight shots onto the fairway. Long and dry grass on the fairway and the rough was even worse! Spent over an hour looking for balls in total which we didn’t even find. Won’t be going back!

I was with a friend for lunch at this golf club. The facilities are nicely maintained and there is ample parking for golfers and external patrons alike. But the facilities seem basic to me compared to the other golf clubs around the Guildford and Woking area.

Very poorly maintained. Greens completely unplayable, bunkers like a jungle, some tees not cut with very long grass. Very disappointing.
