The last trip off the season 2021, was so nice, good winds and good experiences guides. One guide in the water and one in the car. The back office was fast to answer all my questions. Super nice time after kite in pousadas, clean and good looking, luxury. Nice group with a lot off fun

6 day downwind safari. The team is fantastic - Thomas was the guide on the water and Francesco drove along the beach. They know the whole coast like the back of their hand. And any problem is solvable! They're really fun people as well. The group dynamics were great. We had varying ability levels in our group and the team managed that fantastically. I was the only woman in the group but felt completely comfortable. I'll definitely be back next year!

I just completed my second downwinder with Downwind Kite Safari. My first experience was incredible. I have to admit, I didn’t realize just how much work Thomas and Francesco do to make the trip go so smoothly. I found out pretty quick when I did a downwinder with a different company. TRUST ME! All downwind companies are NOT created equal! WELL ORGANIZED!!! Downwind Kite Safari is so well organized. You start each day with a very thorough briefing of the route you’ll be taking (You get two briefings usually—once in the morning, and then another before the second part of the day.) This was so important for me because it made me feel so safe. They warm you about when the wind is going to change with the coastline, they tell you when to expect sharp stones in the water and any other hazards that might be lurking under the water, and if you forget any of the details they tell you, you can simply follow the guide on the water because he is going to steer you clear of any danger. I didn’t have any issues on the water, but it is definitely good to know that Thomas is nearby, keeping an eye on all the riders should they need help. He carries a pump, a radio, and even bottles of water in a dry bag back pack while we ride, so if anything happens, he’s prepared. VERY SAFE!!!! With Downwind Kite Safari, there is a driver following the group on the beach for the entire route. The driver is ALWAYS in site, so if you want to change your kite or board, or even stop early, you can do it very easily. (I learned the hard way that having a driver on site at all times is not a given, when I did the downwinder with another company.) SMALL GROUP SIZE IS AWESOME!!! The group size is awesome!!!!! This is perhaps the best part of the downwinder. Not only do you get to kite amazing spots you couldn’t get to on your own, you can actually kite without worrying about getting run over or crossing lines with another kiter. Both times I downwinded with Downwind Kite Safari, my group was less than 6 people. I was able to work on my wave riding skills because we had so much space to spread out. It’s a fantastic way for everyone to be able to do what they want and their own speed. FIRST CLASS ACCOMMODATIONS!!! The pousadas….you’ll stay in the most adorable, clean and upscale pousadas on the coast. I’ll definitely go back and stay in some of these pousadas if I ever stay somewhere for a week or so, but honestly, downwinding is so fun, and it’s such a great way to experience Brazil, I probably won’t stay in just one spot ever again. Not in Brazil. THE PEOPLE Monika does all the front end logistics. She is very nice, very patient with my ever changing schedule, and very responsive to questions about the trip, the dates, … really anything! I’ve done two trips with Thomas as the guide and Francesco as the driver. Both are very kind, very professional and very interested in the experience their guests are having. They are also very funny. I can’t think that of two better people to hang out with after a great day of kiting! SUMMARY I hesitate to use the “safe” word too much in this review. I don’t want you to think that you’re not going to have a great time if you’re an extreme kiter looking for non-stop action. You’re going to be more than satisfied with the tours that Downwind Kite Safari offers. But, as a single woman who travels for kiting alone and gets a little nervous in the waves, this company is incredible. You really can arrive on the first day of the trip and just focus on whatever it is you want to be doing with your kiting because they take care of everything else. They help you rig your kite, they make sure you are aware of any hazards in the water, they give you a great lunch (beach restaurant or prepared sandwiches as fruits on the beach) and at the end of the day, your luggage is waiting for you in your room! All you have to do it kite and eat and hang out with a small group of people who share your love of kiting. IT’S WELL WORTH THE PRICE!!!! The price seemed high to me before the first downwinder, but at the end, it seems like the appropriate price for an amazing experience. I tried a less expensive trip, and then I went back to Downwind Kite Safari because my safety, my comfort and my fun are very important. I’m going to be doing at least one trip a season with Thomas and Francesco from now on.

This was my second downwinder in Brazil and I have to say this one is very good! The team is extremely well organized. You don't need to think about anything except working on your kite skills and having fun. The guides know the coast very well. They will take you close to the shore whenever it is safe and back out to deeper water when there are rocks or sticks. Just follow the guide. I had a few problems last year with another company due to rocks not known by the guide, and this year I felt completely at ease and I got much more shore riding in. Highly recommended!
