An amazing way to view Santorini and the sea! The jet skis were fun to operate and we were able to swim in the water for a bit too. The Perissa branch of Wavesports was just a few minutes' walk from my hotel, and they seemed to offer better value for money than the other watersports providers on Perissa/Perivolos beach, so I decided to give them a go a couple of days before the end of my holiday. I was on my own and had never done any watersports before so I was a bit nervous, but the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the system was well set-up, with clear instructions and safeguards for customers. First I tried 20 minutes on a jet ski. It was reasonably early on in the day, so I pretty much had the water to myself. It was a bit windy, but I absolutely loved it! The next day, I went back to try water-skiing. They offer 15-minute lessons for the uninitiated, and my instructor was excellent. Because I was a first-time water-skier, he made it easier by putting a bar between the skis to hold them parallel to each other. We started with my holding onto a bar perpendicular to the boat. I had no problem standing up and skiing, but had to let go once my grip and upper arm strength failed - which unfortunately didn't take very long! ;-) Then I tried using a rope attached to the bar. Again, I had no trouble standing up and skiing, but was limited in how long I could hold on due to the upper body strength required. The lesson was over all too soon, and I was keen to extend it. Unfortunately, but sensibly, they only do 15 minutes at a time because of the need to rest your muscles after this period. Had I tried water-skiiing at the beginning of my holiday, I would have gone back for a lesson every day. It was so much fun! Unfortunately my lesson was on the last day of my holiday, so I simply had another 20 minutes on a jet ski before having to go back to check out of my hotel. This time, there was less wind, and a member of staff kindly lent me her goggles so I didn't get so much salt water in my eyes, so it was even better than the day before. I enjoyed my experience so much that I am considering making my next holiday a watersports one. Thank you to Wavesports for a great introduction to jet-skiing and water-skiing!…
