This village is so adorable and charming. This boat ride is really nice in historic replica boats along a scenic river with nice castles, chateaus and cliff hugging towns.

Arrived early in day for visit. Best way to view is to take boat trip. Paid €10 per person for an hour of very interesting information in french about area, boats etc. Very well presented and enjoyable. Value for money.

This hour-long cruise gives a different perspective of the Dordogne river. The views are great and the commentary is educational. Nice outing.

Easy way to feel being eat the beautiful river. Guide speaks in French so a few of us had headphones for English. His script was a lot longer than ours! He added some tidbits he knew were not on our tape which was helpful. Weather...More

Rain was not forecast, so took the edge off a nice boat ride along the water of the Dordogne. The commentary in English was information over load and so could not take everything in. However, the view of the village and chateau in the rocks...More

This past May when the waters of the Dordogne were high, we enjoyed a relaxing one hour round trip boat ride with English audio guide headphones. The river front village of La Roque-Gageac is very picturesque as you travel slowly past the village. You continue...More

It was a hot day but a breeze and the canopy made for a pleasant. Being high season there were lots of swimmers and canoeists, but we got lots of friendly waves. Its not a long trip and, obviously half is the same coming back....More

Beautiful scenery and architecture ruined by the masses bathing and more in the shallow waters. The commentary on the headsets is brief the French tour guide loud and comprehensive. Not worth the money.

This is one of the main things to do in Rocque Gageac. It was a very short trip and due to the low level of the river due to hot weather we could tell it was difficult to manoeuvre. The commentary is all in French...More

Boat trips on the Dordogne from Roque Gageac. (2 Replies)
There are two operators that do tours from here. Les Gabares Norbert specifies the route as going to Castelnaud, where-as Gabarres Caminade does not. Maybe they both go the same way, or does Caminade go in the opposite direction to Chateau Montfort and beyond?? If anyone can help I would be truly delighted. Its our 3rd trip to the Dordogne, but our first time seeing it from the water. Recommendations would be helpful as we will only do one trip

Gabarres Caminade very clearly specifies its route on its website. It also goes to Castelnaud. Neither goes the opposite way except on the return trip, because of the river currents.
