Pori is generally known as the most beautiful beach of the Koufonissia, which are quite spoilt in this respect. In a half moon bay on Ano Koufonissi facing east it is also the longest. Coming by foot from the south there are some flat rocks in the water, a part, which is not ideal for swimming. Further up though it is fine sand on land and in the water. Since it doesn't get deep too quickly the beach is also ideal for small children. Great are the colors of the water.
As all beaches on the Koufonissia also Pori is not organized, thus many people take their own umbrella or small beach tent. Two café-snack bars provide food and drinks. There are three ways to come here: on the road by private car or taxi from the Chora, a distance of about 4km. In season there is also an hourly boat service by Prassinos, which takes one in about 15 minutes from the Chora.
A recommended way to get here is by walking along the coast, which is no more than an hour form the Chora. In this way one comes past several other beaches and sights like the 'Pisina' or the 'Devil's Eye'.
Since the beach was too crowded for my wife and me on a first of July we decided to walk back to the Italida Beach, which we liked the best and where there were far less people. Hiking back I had to think of my first visit to Pori back in August 1988, when there was no road to it and when the 'Koufonissia' had not really been discovered yet by tourism.

The beach is great. By walking the other side from the point that the boat debarks, you can explore the rocky part of the beach where you can find hiddens cave etc.
Be sure to arrive early because the beach gets too too crowded.

It is definitely a beautiful and long sandy beach, however not for a windy day. There is no shade anywhere like in most of the beaches on the island, so you have to bring your umbrella.
Half of the people on the beach was nude.
There are 2 restaurants, one was closed, the other one called Wave was open. Nice setting, good food but VERY expensive. One club sandwich is about 14€.

Windswept waste of time when you only have a day for Koufonissi. The water is beautiful, but the beach is difficult to reach and comfortably spend any time on. The sole restaurant is a disaster. The food is overpriced and below average. Same with the service. You are better off at any of the beaches closer to the main town.

Best sea swimming we've ever enjoyed. No rocks, or even shingle, all weed at one corner, very small waves and beautiful podery sand. Taverna good but expensive and no shade or sunbeds, so go equipped.

This beach didn't offer any sun beds because they want to keep it as natural as possible, especially with so many people visiting the beach on a daily basis. First day we decided to take boat taxi to see all the beaches going to pori beach (last stop). Stunning beach! The sea on one side is like a turquoise emerald color on on other side is a clear blue turquoise - simply refreshing! Very memorable

Pori beach is easily accessible either by car - 10 minutes, by foot - max. 45 minutes of relaxed walking, or 15 minutes taking Cpt. Prassinos’ hourly boats, a nice touch to your excursion. At any rate, the sand is soft yielding under your toes, the water shallow up to the first 50-70 meters, safe for kids and not experienced swimmers. And the color of the water- oh yes, it is Real, you have to experience it to believe it, it is not photoshopped!! The beach is busy in July and August, perfect if you go from 1-15 of June or after the 15th of September. When the winds are under 3 Bf ( less than 20 km/h) , you will enjoy this beauty the most. Visit the nearby “Gala” ( milk) cave / mini beach, worth the 300 m hike . Two nearby cafes provide basic services until the first days of September, to be on the safe side, have your own water.

The beach is sandy but offers little to no shade. The water is shallow for quite a ways out. The bar is super over priced (5€ for a small beer).
I am not a big fan of swimming in waters where boats are anchored for any period of time. The beach is very popular and therefore crowed.
Friends claim it as their favourite on the island. I don’t. Finikas and Fanos are so much better.

Took the water taxi from main port €5 per person return. Water clear and a nice place to spend a few hours. Wasn't expecting it to be also a nudist beach as the beach is probably 200 yards long we noticed a few topless sunbathers which is normal however men walking about with it all hanging out was a shock. For some unknown reason they like to walk up and down the sand along the beach in front of everyone else parading their bodies.

I'm a fairly active person: I swim, I run 5k, I do road cycling. When I googled the distance of the beach from the port I said, pff it's nothing, only 3km. But I was carrying a beach shelter and towels and suntan lotion etc so I thought I'd go for the mini bus. It runs every hour on the hour and it takes about 10', although you will find yourself waiting about 10-15' until all of the 20 or so passengers have paid for the ticket of 1,2€ and taken a seat. There's also the other option of the sea taxi. If you decide to walk, the road is steep, it's hot, it's got no trees, it's full of rocks and you will get sunburnt. We saw a group of tourists carrying their beach bags who looked exhausted and had barely done half the distance. It's not deadly but it's really not worth the effort, especially if you arrive on the island after 12:00.
The beach itself is amazing, the water is crystal clear and you will find a spot to sit. Expect lots of people. Carry some form of pop-up shelter/umbrella as there is nothing there to protect you from the midday sun. If you get thirsty or hungry don't worry there are two places, cafe Pori and Kalofeggo. If you leave with a ferry on the same day, mind the departure hours of the minibus as you may not be able to board since there are lots of visitors and there is limited seating so you may have to wait for it to return empty from town for an extra trip.

Ciao a tutti!

By foot it's all near by walking distance or you can try the taxi boat (5€) or even the very cheap bus(1,50€).

Hello,
I saw your nice comments on Koufonissi.
I would like to go there but my son (17 years old) wishes to learn/progress in kytesurfing. Do you know a person there who could help navigating ?
Best regards
Marc
