It's very interesting to visit this place listening and learning about illuminated Italian industrials of two centuries ago and local tradition and culture. You have also the possibility to discover a piece of Roman history hearing about the naval battle around the islands that put an end to the first war between Rome and Carthago. It's a pleasure to see... More

The " tonnara " is the place where, in the past, they used to can the tuna for many many years. It is an incredible piece of Favignana's history. The guided tour takes you through the many different buildings where you learn everything about the Florio family and their " tuna " business. Anybody who wants to take a break... More

This is a must see place if you spend more than one day on the island of Favignana. It is remarkable to see and understand how islanders' lives were so intertwined with the acquisition and production of tuna. Once you visit, you will never open another can of tuna fish without recalling the hunt and subsequent activities that went into... More

This visit has been one of the most pleasant I've ever had the pleasure to live. Our guide, Francesca Beltrame, explained everything regarding the establishment pleasantly, and the tour wasn't at all boring nor too long. Enjoyable visit that I would surely live to go through again, especially with our same guide.

We arrived at the museum - door was closed/locked with hand written sign , saying that it was open from 10am to 12 noon daily and 'Do not ring the bell'. It was 10.20 on a Monday morning when we got there, we decided it must be closed for the day. We were leaving when 3 other visitors strode up... More

We arrived in Favignana for one day ready to ride bikes and hit the beaches but the weather had other plans. The hotel receptionist said "I suggest you the Tuna Museum because it is the only thing to do in the rain here." My son and husband were a little interested so off we went. I am so glad I... More

Life used to be very different on Favignana when the Florio family's bluefin tuna operation employed most of the people of the island to harvest and process the huge fish. This fascinating museum captures that heritage with films and unique video and audio exhibits, as well as a collection of nets, boats and other equipment used in the process. In... More
