Toured the winery and we were concerned about the cleanliness of the production facility. Press was dirty, hoses were left on the floor of the barrel room, package goods were outside and dust covered, generally a less than clean production floor. That being said no human pathogens can live in wine so.... Guide was great and wines tasted ok especially with the raisin bread they had prepared. Front of shop is vice with lemon trees in abundance. Not our most favorite stop in Tuscany.

Hello Gopher,
Thank you for visiting us.
I'm sorry that you didn't find a cleaned place, but our historical cellars are about 200 years old.
The wine makers were working during your visit, so the hoses were on the floor for this reason.
The press is not dirty, it is from 1989 so the color is not so brilliant.
We are a traditional and historical winery, so we are different from the modern ones.
Have a nice day!

Caterina received us and accompanied us (a trained, passionate and very competent person). We visited the cellar, then tasted various types of wine which we combined with Tuscan bread, oil, local cold cuts and typical cheeses.
An interesting and pleasant afternoon where the main protagonist was the modern science of food and wine.

What can we say, simply a superb experience. We were fortunate to go visit and meet Simona during our honeymoon. What a lovely and inspiring woman she is. “Smooth, soft and elegant” is the way she describes her wine and that’s exactly what it is - elegance.
The tour and the lunch are an experience that will long live in our memory. The only problem was that every other wine tour we did after were no match! Also, the Vin Santo is simply divine.
A must when you’re visiting Montepulciano.

A wonderful way to spend the afternoon. Simone’s family has had the winery for generations & now she runs it. We sat down to an exquisite meal paired with her wines. We had crostini with sun dried tomatoes, a meat pasta dish with a perfect bechamel sauce. Then cold cuts and cheese. We ordered12 bottles of her wine. Simone is the warmest host.

We had a wonderful tour, wine tasting, and purchasing experience here! First, let's cut to the chase the wine is out of this world! Every wine we tasted was excellent in different ways. You must come here if you like red wine. The villa is utterly charming and the staff warm and welcoming. We had such a lovely tasting. You would also be remiss to not try and buy the olive oil. It is spectacular! We bought six bottles of olive oil in addition to wine and I am savoring/rationing every drop!

My husband and I have visited several wineries, but none can compare with the experience that we shared with friends at Villa Sant'Anna. Described as a winery with a "woman's touch", it is located in the village of Abbadia in the territory of Montepulciano.
We were greeted warmly by Simona, the elegant owner of the winery, who runs it with the her two daughters Anna and Margherita. The grounds of the estate were lovely and peaceful, and Simona guided us through several cellars and showed us the steps in producing their wines. We never felt hurried; she treated as though we were the most special guests ever to visit the winery. We learned a lot about Italian wine production during the stroll through the winery, and afterwards we spent time in the beautifully decorated tasting room. Not only were we served generous portions of the Chianti Colli Senesi, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, and Rosso di Montepulciano, Simone also treated us to a delicious antipasto platter. She offered us an explanation of each wine and gave recommendations for food and wine pairings. We were so impressed with the wines of Sant'Anna, that we each ordered two cases to be shipped back to our homes in Alaska. Simona made a special effort to determine whether or not our wine could even be shipped to Alaska; the wooden cases arrived to us safe and sound. The best part about our visit to Simona's winery is that it was not commercialized at all; we felt as though we were visiting a friend who just happened to own a winery; no pressured sales pitch for sure. Some places that offer wine instruction in Italy charge high fees but our visit to Villa S'Anna was free. We all agree that our visit to Villa S'Anna was one of the highlights of our Tuscan vacation.

We enjoyed a tour of the winery on a recent trip, followed by a wine tasting and lunch. This is a chance to taste wine that is not easy to find back home and to gain an understanding of the nuances of making wine in the region. The food was delicious, the background on the wines interesting and the wines sampled very good. Wines can be purchased to take with you or shipped directly home.

This place offers a tremendous value. Located in the center of the tiny town and not well signed, the iron gate opens onto a courtyard surrounded by the winery buildings and home of the family who has been farming here for five generations. We were initially a little bit disappointed that we could not see the vineyards (located elsewhere) but the kind and informative staff were so sincere and accommodating, and their cellars so fascinating, we ended up enjoying ourselves tremendously, staying three hours and ordering a dozen bottles of wine shipped home! After the tour, the owner herself conducted our tasting in their cantina. She helped us learn so much about how to actually conduct a wine tasting in a way that respects and elevates the wines. Her pride in the wine was clear, and she was just wonderful. The breads, cheeses and meats served with the tasting complemented the wines and formed a nice small lunch / heavy snack in themselves. (And the peccorino was the best we'd enjoyed in the area all week! She sources her cheeses from a local farmer and her meats from another local farmer she believes to be the best in the area.)
If you are looking for more than a fancy experience, this is a great winery to visit! Very authentic and focused on the wines. Lovely!

My wife and I drove to Villa Sant' Anna. The outside of the winery looks like you have pulled up to a house in the middle of town so I don't be deceived. The experience is great and you will learn a lot about wine making. The pours are generous and the Paldo/Reserve vino is elegant and I have not found this wine in the states. The Chaniti's are readily available but not near the quality as the Paldo.
Also beg for a taste of the Vin Santo, not usually on the tasting list. This is the diamond in the rough if you like dessert wines.

There are wine tours and wine tours. Do this one. The tour was led by Jasmine then we sat down with the owner, Simona. The things she told us about the wine and the family business were detailed and personal so you feel like you are at a family dinner. I've not drunk much Italian wine, but ordered a case for shipping, and will now definitely be drinking it more back at home. Simona spoke with such passion and love, and the salamis, cheese, olive oil, bread and zucchini were scrumptious! Worth every penny.
