Stopped by here on a spur of the moment thing after seeing the sign. I was wonderfully delighted at the size of the railway. It is huge, and I quite enjoyed watching all the trains moving around. The fact that there are trains you can move yourself is a fantastic addition as well. Plus the cheese is delicious as well,... More

37 years of hard work (can you have a hard hobby?) results in this interesting model railway. There are interactive sections of the display where children (and large children) can make the locomotives move. More scenery is planned to improve the exhibit. This attraction is housed in a shed on a farm, which also produces fresh cheese. Tasting is optional... More

With my wife I visited Middleton Model Railway for a second time. We had visited some years ago and on this second visit we found Colin, the owner and operator of the vast model railway layout, still incredibly passionate about his magnificent build. Since our last visit Colin had obviously done a very great deal more work on landscaping the... More

2 attractions in one! Colin has one of the largest working model railway displays in NZ. Various gauges and lots of kits etc to buy. A vast knowledge which he is happy to share. His wife Biddy makes a most wonderful farm house cheese., Think aged cheddar. The cheese comes from 4 cows Biddy and Colin have and you can... More

We stopped here on a miserable day, cold and rainy. The railway is in a huge barn but lovely and warm with a wood burner roaring in the corner. Much larger than I expected and very interactive which is good as normally at a model railway you can't touch things. There are plenty of trains which you can control yourself.... More

This is an interactive attraction where you get to control a number of different trains on different tracks. Some are just back and forth whilst the larger one takes in model country side and towns. The models are based on train stations in Wales I think, could be wrong. The kids would love it. Although set on a raised platform... More

A wonderful large model railway set up of a whole city scape plus lots of other smaller models and static displays. Ideal for any large small boy.

Went to support a special cause. Biddy and her cheese. But encountered more. I've never seen such a massive model railway. So detailed. Model train fanatics this is your dream come true. And Biddy with her award winning cheese. Just delicious. I wish you well with your battle to continue to do what you love without the red tape. Your... More

Couple have constructed this ginormous (for NZ) layout over some 35 years and it is a sight to behold - even if it may be a bit too "busy" for some people's tastes. Owner is very knowledgeable and very willing to pass on his expertise. Included model shop has a vast range of "goodies".
