Great skiing ideal for families.
Feb 2020
La Thuile offers great skiing for beginners and intermediate skiers offering a huge number of blue and red runs. There are a limited number of black runs. There is a good selection of restaurants which get very busy from mid-day to 1.30pm. If you want a meal during peak weeks, at lunchtime, book in advance.
The toilet facilities at the main gondola are OK however for some reason one was closed at lunchtime for cleaning. There is good ski hire etc facilities in the village.

Just add snow. This lovely resort offers everything you and your young family need to enjoy a skiing holiday. Reasonable priced and well placed, with plenty of km of pistes. Lovely.

La Thuile skiing with young children

We stayed in Planibel Apartments. It was a 6 bed apartment (for 4 people) but it meant that we had a spacious apartment with 2 bedrooms, 1 double bed and a bunk bed. The lounge/ kitchen also had 2 beds (sofa beds). It had a shower room and a bathroom, 2 bedrooms, the lounge kitchen had sofa, basic hob, fridge and microwave and we had a space to hang wet ski clothes and store bags. It was basic what you paid for but for us 2 adults and 8 year old and 3 year old it was brilliant. We loved it.
It had a lift to the room. Then she the lift to the bottom to get to the lockers where you could store all your ski boots etc.
Was great to be able to get changed walk 50 meters be on magic carpet or 100 meters and be on the gondola and up the top of the mountain.
We used the Crystal childcare and can highly recommend for our 3 year old. We just used in morning and picked her up for lunch and skiing in afternoon but was available all day.
We also used the butchers, supermarket, cafe with fab hot chocolate and ice cream and the pizza place nearly every day and all was perfect.
Short walk into town with lots of lovely shops.
Can highly recommend. Will be back.

I have been to La thuile many times and it just keeps getting better and better, the quiet uncrowded slopes, the excellent piste preparation ski in/out and traditional pretty village all add up to make it the perfect destination for a ski holiday, whether you are an expert or a beginner or anything in between you can not fail to enjoy its location. Set amid some of the most spectacular peaks in the alps with amazing views of Mont Blanc.
The Planibel apartments are a bit dated and worn, but hey they are at the bottom of the slopes, have plenty of hot water and are extremely clean, what more do you need.
All in all a great place to visit !!

Wonderful quiet resort
Jan 2020 • Family
Great resort with a nice connection to France, some good beginners skiing once up the gondola. Really nice intermediate to advance in pockets around resort. Great place for a family holiday. Could do with an easy way down for lower skier levels but can easily be skiing by a confident intermediate skier. Great for teaching/coaching lots of varied terrain.

A silent place hidden in the Aoste Valley, isolated, quiet an beautiful - a bit of expensive.
Mar 2019
Hidden in the Aoste Valley you will find this place located in the French - Italian alps, close to the regional capital of Aoste. As well in winter as in summer it is a sublime resort for outdoor people. Hiking and skiing in winter in a super environment, with the Montblanc mountain range within sight.

If anything happens to you on the slopes do not let the emergency take you to Centro Traumatologico di La Thuile
Mar 2019 • Solo
If you have any injury while skiing in La Thuile ask the emergency to take you to the hospital and not Centro Traumatologico do La Thuile. My husband had a serious ski accident and the the orthopedist in that center performed only a very random check on him. He did only an exray no CT or MRI (with my husband’s medical and ski insurance over euro 25000!) and despite a detail description of the accident itself and the post injury symptoms he sent my husband home. After a CT done in Poland the doctors couldn’t believe that the Italian doctor sent my husband by plane in a sitting position as they saw a compressed fracture of Th6 in his spine which might result in breaking of the spinal cord during the flight back home. The Italian doctors also neglected the knee injury as it turned out that this injury required an immediate operation which should have been done same day in Italy. So when you enjoy the beautiful views of La Thuile remember to have an address of the local hospital and not Centro Traumatologico di La Thuile if you want to be on the safe side.
