A stunning place to drive past or go in to Whakapapa and see all the mountains more up close. Great photo opportunities at every turn.

Can not go direcly on top of the mauntain, since it is a sacred Maori ground, but even ike under Mr. Doom is unforgettable experience. The views are amazing. One of the best hikes I´ve ever done

Not the most beautiful mountain I've seen but really neat anyway. Knowing that it was used as Mount doom make it cool. The colours around the crater make it unique. This and the 3 blue lakes are the highlight of the alpine crossing.

Hi there. It really depends on the weather. The mountain is not that close to the roads and view from there can really not compensate closer look. But when you don´t have any other option, I would recommend taking route 47... More
