The cages were filthy, the animals looked awful. This zoo is terrible. The only zoo that I have seen worse then this one is the Otorohanga Kiwi House. I pitied the animals. Go to a pet store for a better time.

A fabulous place to interact with the birds and enjoy the beautiful grounds. Kids and adults alike love to feed the many birds roaming around. A great little cafe for food, too. Souvenir shop full of lovely, quirky things.

Needs some time and money spending on this to tidy it up. Felt very sorry for 1 lonely bird in a mouldy stark cage. Nice walk.

My Mum and I accidentally showed up 2 weeks before the open season but were lucky enough to be let in because there was a school excursion also happening that day. The entry prices are good and we of course bought a $1 bag of food to feed the birds :P The gardens are absolutely beautiful and as 2 adults,... More

Being Spring, and as locals living on a kiwifruit orchard we knew that the grounds may be wet after a week of over 200 mm of rainfall. The day we went was totally overcast, with little wind. Yes, the grounds were wet, and even staying mostly on the many gravel paths those of us that wore shoes got wet feet.... More

Needs a bit of tlc and tidy up. Very dingy aviaries. Cafe needs to supply hot drinks that are hot. Just taking dead branches off of top of aviaries would be a start. Signs need work. Laninated ones or written in vivid are not suitable. Nice walk but could be improved.

Spectacular with local and native scenery. Ponds and water displays with birds of all descriptions. Grazing cattle, peacocks, parrot's, pigeons and numerous other birds. The area is interactive and friendly, especially for kids ( and parents ) Take time for a coffee at the cafe where you can play drafts outside on a big board. Allow a couple of hours.

A quick detour for a coffee and we ended up in this bird park. From the outside it looks basic and once in the courtyard, the dances of the peacock, to the flocks of pigeon and ducks and chickens. the kids lovvedddddddd it to bits.
