What a lovely highway to drive on but only during the day time. Ensure you minimize driving at night as it is very challenging (the last bit down into the Dead Sea was done at night, and wow the difficulty).

Ensure you know how to move the rental car into low gear and up/down shift between first and second gear. The scenic spots are phenomenal and ensure you allot a full day, sunrise to sunset, if you plan to do it all in one day.

Just the typical highway to go from Amman to Petra for example. Good to take to visit Dead Sea or Karak Castle as well.
Be careful, I found some fuel stations only accepting cash, always ask if they accept Visa card before refulling

I have traveled in august as woman alone to Jordan.
at jordan beauty tours I have booked a 14-day round trip. We spent several days in amman among others, traveled for a trekking tour further into the wadi, dana, several days petra, dan a jeep tour to Wadi Rum, Aqaba for snorkelling and statements nor to the dead sea to relax. It was a wonderful trip! super organized!
During these 14 days ali Hasanat was my guide. He took care of everything and always depended on me. I have no moment felt uncomfortable or unsafe.
I know alli very friendly, open people and appreciate. He has a very good empathy. he always took great care of me, even when I was sick two days. He speaks very good English. I would recommend him to anyone (women traveling alone insbesonderem) well!

We loved this route even though its longer. You get to stop in many villages and see people go about daily lives. We stopped in shops to buy fresh fruit. The people around us were kind and helpful. We drove to two castles which my little one enjoyed kerak and shobak and ended up in petra at wadi musa.

We have rented a car for 4 days and made Petra - Madaba on Kings Highway. It was a very good choice, the views are amazing, the road is good and safe, with lots of options to stop, take pictures and drive between 1500m (Dana Natural Reserve) to -400m (Dead Sea)
We would highly recommend this road.

I booked the Amman to Petra via King's Highway with Jordan Beauty Tours (Ali Hasanat). This route was the longer option, but the views were breathtaking! I only had 5 full days in Jordan, and doing this route probably took more time that I would have liked, but it was worth it. The driver was a bit enthusiatic, but nice.

As a female travelling on my own, I had some reservations. But people are very friendly and I felt safe. Ali has been very patient and helpful with all my queries. He went out of his way a few times to help me for which I am very grateful.

I highly recommend Jordan Beauty Tours / Ali H for the services provided!

I appreciate the excellent service and also the professionalism by Ali from Jordan Beauty Tours. Thank you very much.
I was on a 4 days trip to Jordan on week 13 December 2013.
It was snowing and my delayed luggage also impacted the trip.
I am grateful for the help that Ali provided especially on my departing airport transfer.
He has helped to arrange for a hotel nearer to the airport to avoid possible delay due to snowing and has managed a difficult driver.

However, it is unfortunate that I encountered a less than desired driver.
It is sometimes inevitable that we have some frustrations and conflict during a vacation.
However, his behaviour is not what I expect in the circumstances.
I belive this driver is working for a company which partners with Ali.

Overall, I am happy with the service of Jordan Beauty Tours and will not hesitate to recommend it to another traveller. I wish Ali all the best in his career in tourism:)

If you're brave enough to drive in Jordan, this is a beautiful road, full of scenic overpasses, and twists and turns. We had some difficulties as non-Arabic readers, but felt we got an amazing oversight into life in Jordan, as we passed through smaller towns, after starting out in Madaba. We stopped at Karak Castle and Shobak Castle, before ending up in Wadi Musa. At one point, we were stopped by a herd of sheep on the road. There's tremendous history in this road, and you really feel it. And it sure beats the Desert Highway for scenery. It takes twice as long as the Desert Highway, but it's an attraction in its own right.

Hired a private taxi driver from Amman to Petra over a 2 day period. First day we visited Mount Nebo and Madaba church.
Day two we visited Um Rasas, Karak castle the town of Mazar, Mujib reserve,Dana park and finally to Wadi Musa.
Over 4000 years of history is engrained in this highway.
