Amazing Monumental Arcade top friendly for the public
Oct 2021 • Couples
Fabulous and pleasant atmosphere in the Arcade.
Very monumental and mysterious site.
Friendly business owners in the premises.
High level of mental relaxation and rest within service and shopping area.

Empty you bladder before entering.

I used to like this place, but the pandemic has hit it hard. Today I went in with my daughter looking for the sweet shop that used to be there. We were disappointed to find that it had gone (and not much else was open). I was even more dismayed to be told I couldn't use the toilet because I 'wasn't a customer'. I have often spent money in there and might have spend money in there again today a) there had been anything to spend it on and b) I wasn't so furious.

Disappointing!

Read various reviews and thought it sounded somewhere interesting to visit( with accompanying dog!)but it was a wasted visit! There were only a couple of shops open , the place was dismal and the cafe which I was heading to only had two people in and no sign of staff! Really would give the whole place a miss- not sure whether it was up and coming or down and gone!

Not a lot to see, we could not decide if it was just opening as a new venue, or closing down, as many of the shops were closed.

Very disappointing
Sep 2019 • Friends
Used to love it here & had been raving about it to friends but was in for a shock on Friday when I found the sweet shop gone & premises empty & 2 or 3 new bars have appeared, sure they’re nice but how many bars does this place need, gutted & won’t be back as there’s nothing left, incredibly disappointing 😢

Almost nothing left to see inside
Sep 2019
Paid for 2 hours parking (£2.40 - maximum length) on front street car park and headed for the Land Of Green Ginger with fond memories of old.

Greeted downstairs with a closed looking shoe / bag shop, although sign on the door claimed to be open.

A pet shop with lots of stock, and an empty, closed looking ‘themed bar’, Gin Bar and an empty closed down unit that previously housed a sweet shop, but has now relocated to Tynemouth Metro station.

Looked upstairs - could only really see a cafe & Tattooist so didn’t make the effort to climb the stairs - May have been amazed but based on downstairs, wasn’t bothered. Couldn’t find any old curiosity shops, antiques or sweetshop that the website claims.

Done and back out again in about 6 minutes.

Good to see a set up that encourages independent businesses in a historic setting. Should note good access to downstairs for someone with limited mobility

After reading some reviews I wondered if I was in the same place.
It dying on it’s feet. Don’t know how it keeps going. Half decent shoe shop and ok sweet shop but most of of it’s run down.
