This aquarium is very small, but with reasonable sized tanks and a number of good exhibits. Worth visiting, especially with small children as the facility is aimed at families. There was a good variety of fish, and the highlight is the underwater tunnel where you can be surround on the sides and above by fish, sharks, and rays. Some TLC... More

Thank you for your review. We hope you and your family had a great day, the tunnel is our favourite part too! Our seal pool is currently closed for its twice yearly clean, so hopefully next time you visit you will get a better view. Otters are territorial and use their scent to mark their territory. We clean the pool... More

Parking is extortionate. Then the tickets, based on the entrance fee, I expected over an hour of viewing, at least. It was all finished in less than 1/2. Staff appeared somewhat unwelcoming. I give it 3 stars because of the conservation work, but as an attraction, well, is not.

Thank you for your review. Unfortunately we do not own the car parks and therefore can not set the prices of parking. We have 12 talks and shows on every day including our seal show. With this and your ticket being valid for the whole day, there is plenty to do to ensure your visit is over 1/2 an hour... More

Excellent day out. Staff were all knowledgable and friendly. A fantastic range of fish, otters, seals and monkeys, they even had a bearded dragon, all to learn about and watch being fed. Staff told us they had rescued a seal off the beach as it had been bitten by a dog, they had it in a separate enclosure so it... More

£30 for 2 adults and 2 young children Staff were chatting amongst themselves seemingly uninterested in letting us in to start with. Aquarium was dingy, otters asleep and very little else to keep 4 and 1 year old interested. We were there less than 1 hour. Thought about getting a coffee on the way out but all cafe tables either... Reading all the review on tripadvisor, I thought of skipping this attraction. However, I'm very glad I made it. Very good seals show! I took some fantastic pictures of all the animals there. Only thing I don't really understand is why there are monkeys on the premises. Never saw one on any boat trips 😜🙈It doesn't smell fishy there?!

Thank you for your review. We are very glad that you enjoyed your visit, the seal show is one of our most popular attractions too. We keep monkeys as it gives our guests another attraction to see and learn about. Although they aren't marine animals, people find them very interesting, especially watching their feeding time! Really nice trip out. Slightly pricey but it goes to a good organisation who do a lot for animal conservation and education so well worth it. Really enjoyed the seal show and the otter talk.

Thank you for your review and i am glad that you enjoyed your visit. The price of admission goes towards the upkeep of our animals and the other work we do to protect wildlife, such as our marine rescue unit. We hope to see you again soon. More

With three grandchildren in tow we were pleased to come across the Blue Reef Aquarium, which is right on the front at Tynemouth with a car park adjacent. It is expensive but entertaining for even the smallest person. We saw turtles being fed, followed by a display by three harbour seals in their own specially designed enclosure. There are also...
