We love taking our dog to Tynemouth most weekends.
When the tide is out, the beach is huge. ( Check tide times before walk).
There are usually lots of people with their friendly and sociable dogs on this beach at weekends.
The beach is very clean. There are always lots of surfers in the sea.
A restaurant at either end too.

Even upon the hottest, busiest day the crowds can disperse upon this vast expanse of golden sand. It is safe, clean and family-friendly with plenty of parking close by. If you fancy a short walk whilst here, other smaller bays are nearby as is the castle, pier and Tyne riverside promenade.

What a beautiful beach of soft golden sand. There's beach wardens making sure the beach is tidy and safe. There are several life guards watching the brave swimmers and surfers. There are safe flags marked out at the shoreline. There's a surf board hire shop and a lovely beachfront cafe called Crusoes.

Stunning sandy beach, safe for swimming - there were lifeguards on duty while we were there. Tractor cleaned seaweed off after high tide. Good facilities. Would be wonderful if seawater marine pool were re-established as in Clevedon, Somerset. Only minor criticism: despite warnings and threat of large fines, dogs were in regular evidence despite ban.

What a beautiful beach long sands beach is. This was our first visit to this beach and were really impressed with this beach.
Very clean and plenty of room. Didn’t feel overcrowded at all despite it being a red hot day. There is a restaurant at the other end of the beach which is nice and facilities were clean. Life guards were on the beach and volunteers walking up and down the beach removing any litter. The kids really enjoyed being in the sea and building sand castles.
We will definitely be back to this beach.

Mile long beach with good clean sand. Minutes walk from Tynemouth village and castle. Great for paddle boarding and surfing with several places to hire equipment. Good parking on promenade. Crusoe's restaurant has good indoor and outdoor seating and provides good service.

Long Sands beach is a wonderful stretch of sand to stroll or spend the day. I have been coming here for years and it never fails to impress, more so on a hot day. Great place for family days out, picnics or relaxing.

Large well maintained stretch of clean sand. Very popular so it can get busy in peak periods.
A good place to visit if you are on a city break in nearby Newcastle and fancy a change of scenery.

Tynemouth has so much to offer I’m surprised it isn’t more widely known. Stunning beaches like this really are the jewel in Gosforths coast. Also the adjoining beach is beautiful and clean.
