In nearby Newcastle for family business and took a few short hours away to unwind at the beach. The sand area is fairly clean and lifeguards w/ rescue equipment stand watch nearby. There's a surfing school and restaurant near each other and the surf school...More

This is a lovely beach, unspoilt, long and sandy with areas to swim (if you are mad, it's freezing!), surf and dogs to play etc. Wonderful sweeping views from either end, easy access, parking and close to lots of fine eating and drinking.

Lovely sandy beach that seems to go on forever. Good spot for surfing if that's your thing or just great for lying about and enjoying the sun, if it ever shows up!!

Dragging the kids out for a walk with the dogs, it is the perfect space when the tide is out to throw a ball and have fun. Dogs are allowed at the north end of the beach which is the end near the view cafe,...More

Picturesque and perfect, this beach has got the lot!!-white warm and wonderful (with a view)!-beautiful backdrop of Historic Tynemouth Priory-Magnificent Spire on the Local Church, and a coastline as far as your eye can see. Definitely Worth a Wander.

This is a great beach nice and long as the name would suggest. You can walk the dogs at the north end of the beach in the summer or the full length in winter time.

Visited this beach often and it wouldn't look out of place in the Caribbean. Beautiful stretch of sandy beach and there's plenty to do nearby. If you get an opportunity take a surf lesson. It may not be Hawaii but the views are equally impressive

This is a beautiful beach. Good access. Wonderful sand. Two cafes. Surf school. Lifeguards. Easy parking on the cliff above. Tynemouth park and aquarium nearby and the small community of tynemouth just a couple of hundred yards away. Pity about the sea temperature!

First visit to long sands beach yesterday and it won't be our last. It's just beautiful, the sand is perfect and the water very inviting. There is a section for dogs too and ours loved it and made some new friends along the way!
