This is a beautiful stretch of beach, popular today with surfers making the most of the waves & optimising the fantastic weather, families playing in the sand & flying kites, people walking their dogs, very clean albeit a little rugged in places but a beautiful spot to bring children & enjoy a day at the coast with a picnic or... Longsands has parking at either end and a cafe and toilets at each end as well. It's a very busy Beach, especially popular with dog walkers, although they are restricted to half the beach between May and October. There is good sand to walk on, rocks to explore and beautiful views. It's a wonderful beach

A great sandy beach, with plenty of room. At low tide, there is a reef that gets exposed at the North end of the beach. It was good fun bolder hopping along it. Keep an eye on the tide coming in though. Apparently there are really good waves for surfing here too. I didn't see any during my 3 day... More

Have spent a fantastic week in tynemouth and has prompted me to write some reviews for this beautiful town. The beach is beautiful and clean and with a coffee shop either end of the beach it is pretty much perfect. The weather wasn't great but that didn't stop it from being an amazing visit. We can no wait to return.

Beautiful place to go for a walk, or take your dogs. You should try surfing here if you fancy a sport day!

Visited the beach on a couple of occasions whilst in the area visiting relatives. It is very clean and wide. Like any beach it is an idea to keep a watch of the tidal currents. There is plenty of staff to accommodate children and dogs. there is a ramp down to the beach so some level of wheelchair access would... More

Never get sick of walking along this stretch of beach at any time of the year, such a beautiful coastline. There is a cafe at either end and surf lessons are also available. Great for all ages.

This is a wonderful beach for children. We arrived mid-tide, so there was plenty of space and we were lucky with the weather, which of course cannot be guaranteed on the north east coast.

Wow, what a stunning beach. We were very fortunate to visit here on a beautiful clear day with bright blue skies. The sea was calm and it was a beautiful tranquil day. The sand here is vast, clean and beautiful. My kids had a great time just running around and doing cartwheels. We walked from king Edwards bay up to... More
