I stumbled on the Amyclae Experience in Sperlonga while searching for wineries near Rome. Since we were staying nearby, this tour seemed like a perfect fit. Irena was easy to communicate with, responsive, and flexible. This particular tour was in English. We started with a little background on Sperlonga - Greek mythology and Roman history associated with the area, followed by a walking tour highlighting key points in the historic center. Although there is some climbing involved, the pace is moderate and there are frequent pauses. The view from the top of Torre Truglia is magnificent. Another highlight was a visit to an church that showcases the top of an ancient Roman capital found by a local fisherman on a nearby beach in 2017. And, let's not leave out the Sorrelle Poco Poco. Perhaps the cutest grocery store on earth, run by two friendly sisters, overflowing with beautiful local produce, cold cuts, cheeses.... Transportation was provided for us up to the nearby Cecubi winery. The scenery on the drive was amazing as we headed up into the mountains. The winery itself was in a beautiful country setting. After viewing the vines and the winery, our group of 7 sat down to a dining table filled with cheeses, bread, dried sausage to accompany the wines we were tasting. On the return trip, as if on cue, a large herd of goats passed in front of our vehicle. The entire tour was roughly 4 hours. Loved it - highly recommended!
