Very pretty, very large park

The park has something for everyone. There's a rose garden, a japanese stone garden, a lake, shady walks between trees and more! You'll see people practicing a hobby in the morning, like dancing or calligraphy.

Rich in beauty, activities, and crowds

Hong Mei Park, close to Changzhou's urban core, is filled with winding paths, flowers, and prime examples of traditional Chinese architecture. Looking for spontaneous performances of Chinese opera or dancing? This is a safe bet. Its convenient location (both fairly central within the city and a stone's throw from Chabgzhou's most famous Buddhist temple) mean that in evenings and on weekends and holidays, Hongmei is guaranteed to be crowded. Still, it's worth a stop as one of the city's most famous sites. For kids, there's also plenty to do. Paths wind through mini forests of stones that are perfect for imaginary adventures. There's also a small area with pseudo amusement park style rides and a bit of a petting zoo (there once was an actually zoo, but that moved down to Wujin many years ago and became the Yancheng Safari Park). These days, selfies are the major activity and you'll see plenty of people hunting out perfect positions to take theirs. The crew that maintains this park must work incredibly hard. It's amazing how well it holds up considering how popular it is.

artistic and enchanting

Free. Very large and romantic. Quaint waterways interweave between clusters of gingko, maple, azalea, plum and pine trees. Pockets of marble and granite rock formations, bronze sculptures, pagoda pavilions. Small motored boats can also be hired. The paths are layered with stone and rocks and there are artistic surprises at almost every corner. Tianning tower is immediately adjacent to the park. Definitely worth meandering through slowly to take in all the sights. We were there in late Oct 2017.

Great place for a sunny day

I went to the park on a sunny Sunday and was very surprised at how easy it was to walk around the park. I was expecting it to be far more crowded.

The park is very spacious and has a number of Chinese building within it and beautiful parklands that are very well maintained.

From the park you get a beautiful view of Tianning Temple which is just next door and there are a number of activities for children to do as well. The lake is a good place to hire a boat and go on the water but be prepared to be bumped many times.

Leaving the park getting a taxi was fairly easy by flagging one down on the road. Just remember to have your next address written in mandarin as taxi drivers do not speak English.

Also just outside the park is many local restaurants to try.

The park is also close to Dongo Park so there are numerous sites to see in this area. This is possibly the main location for tourist to visit to see historical sites in Changzhou.

I went during Chinese New Year, so obviously it's one of, if not the busiest time of the year. Despite being busy it was nice to be around nature and have the view of Pagoda. Great for anyone - wether it be alone, with family or as a couple. It's a nice place to take a break
