The Canal 5 area is really nice. There are different bars and restaurants. I suggest to find the Boiler Loft, which is a cozy bar with live music. You should go in the early evening, as the live music usually plays until 12!

Artsy Refurbished Old Factory

This was a former factory from the Mao era that has been refurbished into an art museum. It feels very hipster, and during times when it has art galleries, it is actually really nice. It would help a lot to know Chinese, as a lot of the information is not in English. However, it still is a interesting site regardless of any language barrier and I definitely recommend it.
