I did a LOT of research and was VERY picky about the wine tour experience in Tuscany. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and really wanted an authentic, local wine tour experience. I was not interested in a touristy experience nor did we want to visit the large/commercialized wineries where they mass produce their wines. We had a wonderful driver who was a sommelier and knew the area and wineries very well. He was so kind and sweet - definitely made our experience much more enjoyable. We went to 3 wineries. The first winery, Icario, felt the least "family-run" but it was still a great experience. We tried 6 wines and ended up buying a case of 6. We then went to Montalcino and went to Poggio Rubino - this was our favorite. The views are very pretty and they have wonderful Brunello wines!! We thought they had a the best wines and this is very much a local/family run operation. We also had lunch and some snacks here and it was probably one of my favorite lunches!! The homemade pasta was delicious. Our last stop was at Col di Lamo. We were the only ones at the winery and the owner gave us a tour and we tried 2 wines. Is is also a family run spot, with a female owner who is very proud of her operation!
Although this experience is a bit pricey, I think it was worth doing a private tour and having your itinerary set up for you. they definitely know the right places to go! Highly recommend!

My wife and I found ourselves in Florence for an extra day on our first trip to Italy. We searched for tours and connected with Maurizio 2 days ago and he was able to get us set up for a full day and 3 wineries today. I gave him the two regions we wanted to visit and he booked the wineries for us to visit.
Emiliano is a fantastic guide. Being a local to the area he has first hand knowledge on wines, culture and all things Italian. Full of energy, he truly made our first visit to Tuscany super enjoyable. He kept us on time and was able to answer all of the questions we asked him.
The Montepulciano and Montalcino area is so beautiful. Being here at the end of September gave us moderate temperatures and less crowds than the summer months.
We will definitely book another trip with them when we return in the future.

I cannot recommend our driver, Paulo, enough! He was absolutely excellent in every way. He was right on time, super friendly and informative. Booking a tour like this, you would expect the driver to be just a driver & point out things here & there, but Paulo taught us so much about the region & the wine we were tasting. We visited the Montalcino region where Brunello & Rosso di Montalcino are made. Being a wine lover, but not knowing about Brunello di Montalcino, Paula explained everything about the wine on our way from Florence that was easy to understand, so by the time we got to our first winery, we could not wait to try our first sip of Brunello! We visited four wineries & even had lunch at one of them. It was such an amazing experience & better than we could have ever imagined. I could not recommend this company and our driver Paulo enough! We’d love to go back & do other tours with Paulo around Tuscany – hopefully one day not too far in the future!

This was by far our favorite part of our honeymoon trip to Italy! My husband and I love wine, and wanted a convenient way to get to a few Tuscan wineries without the hassle of having to rent a car. From the beginning of planning, Maurizio was a great communicator who responded quickly and gave us all the information we needed.
Francesco was our driver and he could not have been a better guide for us. On top of being extremely punctual, he gave us the history of the region while we were driving but also let us enjoy the peacefulness of the drive. We never felt rushed at any point and he let us spend as much time at each of our three stops as we wanted. He was also kind enough to pull off at various places on the road that had pretty backdrops and took pictures for us, as well as stopping to show us an old church. He also gave me several great restaurant recommendations for the next place we were stopping in Italy.
The 3 Chianti Classico wineries we stopped at were unique and something we would not have otherwise been able to experience. Fantastic experience all around and will be booking with them next time we are in Tuscany.

I can't recommend Golden Tours enough if you're looking for a wine experience or private driver. We needed a driver to take us to San Casciano for the day and it turned out to be do much more than someone driving us to a location. We spent the day with Emiliano exploring hill towns and wineries and this was by far the highlight of our 10 day visit to Italy.
My husband and I are returning to Firenze in April and will be requesting Emi as our driver again.

We were so very fortunate to have learned of Tuscany Tours and Mr. Maurizio Matassoni who gave us a wonderful tour of the Chianti Region and transported us between our Cortona tour and sight seeing in Florence. He was a delight to talk with about Tuscany, Chianti and his travels to the USA. We saw the beautiful countryside, visited wineries and ate a wonderful lunch. We visited a winery that was new to us, Castello Monterinaldi, but had such excellent wines that we bought a case to have shipped home. We had a great private tour of three vineyards in Tuscany and managed to include some sightseeing along the way. We were celebrating our friends 50th birthday and we were made to feel like it was a special experience. Stopping along the way to make some photos of amazing landscapes and a group shot in front of Gladiators Tuscan home scene was a fun memory for all of us. And yes the wine was good as well.
Francesco our driver was fantastic and kept us interested with Fun facts along the way and gave us a smooth ride and was always helping to introduce us at every vineyard's we visited.

We enjoyed a fabulous wine tour in Tuscany. Our driver/guide Paulo was fantastic. He provided great information and we had a lot of good conversation throughout the day. The drive from Florence to the Chianti Classico region and from winery to winery was very pleasant. But the real treat was the wonderful wineries where we tasted a number of great wines, delicious olive oils, and a fabulous three course lunch. We even stopped along the way to grab some gelato before the last winery, very tasty. We planned to limit ourselves to one bottle purchase per winery as we had little space or ability to haul more baggage, but we ended up buying a case and a half to be shipped to the US at a very nominal cost (a case at one winery was no additional cost, and a small shipping charge at another for a half case).
Our pickup was on time. The vehicle was large, comfortable and air conditioned (it was hot!). Nothing was rushed. Everything was wonderful. Highly recommend this private experience. Well worth it.

We had an open day in our itinerary, so we filled it up with a three winery tour and feast in Montalcino! The day was incredible with a guide who made great use of every minute in preparing us for each winery, the surroundings, the history, and of course the Brunello! It was clear that he was well known to the owners, which added even more to our discussions, and learnings. Next trip - further north for some Borolo!

We booked a full day wine tour in Tuscany, stopping at 3 different wineries and had a great time! Our driver, Francesco, was very professional, friendly and on time. We were picked up in a spacious vehicle and had plenty of room to be comfortable for just two of us. It was very helpful that our driver spoke English and helped translate as well as pointing out a few historical sites along the drive. The experiences at all three wineries went well- the hosts were friendly and knowledgeable. We had a delicious lunch at one of the stops, Poggio Rubino, after completing the tasting which was very generous. We had cheese/other appetizers and homemade pasta and were able to speak directly with the owner (and meet her cute dog!). All of the locations provided only red wine to taste except one rose (which were delicious, Brunellos etc) however if you are expecting white wine this would not be the tour for you. Another noteworthy detail is that the owners were present at all three wineries- in the USA usually you do not get to meet the proprietor at most wineries so this was a treat to learn from them and hear their passion. It was also fun to learn about olive oil that many of the locations produce as well. I would highly recommend this tour, it was exactly the experience we were looking for! Thank you!

If you reach out on their website, they provide much information in a timely manner. I was quoted approx. 380 euro to 450 euro (NOT per person) for 8 hrs., private driver/tour guide, depending on the location & tour you pick. Tuscanwinetastingtours
