If you have a chance to visit this place, make sure you take it. The drive can take longer than you might think, because the road is sinuous and winds up and down steep mountains and valleys. There are often many cars parked on the side of the road causing something of an obstacle, so you will find you can only drive around 40-50km per hour in many parts. However, this provides the opportunity to safely admire the surroundings as you pass through beautiful forest, with the craggy mountains and needles in the distance.
The viewing site for the needles is crowded – parking is at a premium. When we went there, the toilets at the information hut were locked (perhaps due to Covid-19?) – I don’t know what the many visitors did to relieve themselves.
The views are spectacular, and there was plenty of grassy space under lovely pine trees for picnics and relaxing.
I believe there are some magnificent hikes in the vicinity. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to try them out – I’d love to return and do so.

We've been on the needles of the Bavella massif today. It was an absolutely stunning and magnificent hike through this amazing mountain site. We took the alpine version of GR20 to the top of the fourth needle, descended to the Ascinao valley and made our return on the main path of GR20. And now my advice: if you are physically at least a little fit, do that hike!! It is a fantastic experience and if you catch a nice day, the view from the summit is incredible! We had some clouds drifting by for some time so we didn't go to the top of the third needle (which is possible but optional) but still, I'd always do this trip again.
Another highlight: the cows, that were chilling on the pass street near the parking ;)

This are has spectacular mountains and views. If you drive into Zonza, there is a parking area by the various trail heads. The "Bomb Hole" walk is a good choice if you have about 2 hours. There is a rock scramble at the end but otherwise, it is an easy walk.

At the tourist office in Zonza, we picked up a hiking guide which provided the map for the "U Tafunatu di U Capmuleddu walk" to the Trou de la Bombe (a cool natural rock formation of a hole). This is a beautiful hike with great views at the start of the Aiguilles. The hike is not at all strenuous with the exception of the latter part to see the Trou.

If you drive in from Zonza, park in the lot on the right and you'll find the trail head from the top of the parking lot (in the direction of Zonza). The path is a loop following the red markers. Once you get to a sign indicating that the Trou is 15 minutes further, you are leaving the loop trail and this is where it gets strenuous and you need to do a little bit of scrambling up some rocks to see the hole. After seeing the Trou, you'll retrace your steps back to the path and then can continue in the opposite direction from which you came (to the right)... this will bring you back to the other side of the parking lot near the restrooms.

Spectacular though hair raising drive. Some excellent scenery. Zonza is a beautiful little village and worth a stop for lunch and a walk around

I cycled up the road from Sari Solenzara - long hard climb but worth the effort. The mountains are unforgettable and magnificent. There is great river swimming along the way.

An interesting drive up to the Aiguilles. Once there the views are spectacular. There is a paid car park on the right as you approach from Zonza but go a few more yards and there is free parking on the left

We drove on the Bavella route and were both amazed at the sight! Certainly the most extraordinary road we have ever driven through (this is on par to the Grand Canyon to give you an idea of how striking it is). You would really miss on something spectacular if you did not come that way.
