Energy efficient saltworks

Making salt is an old tradition in Denmark. This is typical done with a lot of heat produced from electricity or just simple wood fire.
Here this is done with solar cells. By keeping the temperature low a high quality salt can be obtained. The only disadvance is a very long processing time.
The owner are happy to tell about the process.
You can also buy salt with natural herbs. These are added late in the process. This keep all the oils from the herb to stay in the salt.
You can also make your own herb salt. There are many possibilities. What about thyme and galic?
All the ingredients are ready, you just have to make the mixing.

The visit is meant to be relaxed. Even in busy times the owners (man and wife) will have time to explain the process or just a talk about anything.
Entrance is free, but if you want a food bath and a good cup of coffee you pay 25 DKK per person.

Great high quality products

Salt in all sorts of flavours, some of them really unique. Their products are also available in some shops in the region, but the largest choice is in their headquarters in Pandrup. The owners also give a tour of the production facilities, let you taste their products and don't press you to buy them. Definitely worth a visit.
