Glad that I visited it on my last day in Santa Ana! Entrance fee for foreigners is $5 plus $2 for the use of camera. I had an English speaking guide named Stephanie.
She explained the history of the theater and showed me its various areas. My favorite area is the salon where they do the dancing. On its sides are the separate areas for men and women. The paintings on the ceilings mouldings, chandeliers. etc are all very beautiful.
There are 3 levels or sections for the audience to sit. The top level is for the poor customers where the seats had been modernised. The bathroom at this level is modern and free to use during my visit.
There is a small museum on the right side of the theater (ground level). Highly recommende to visit!

We were staying right around the corner and they were open so we took a tour ($1.50 a piece). You can get Spanish speaking tour or just walk around. It was really nice theater. As we don't speak Spanish,we probably missed out on the history of it but was a nice half hour walking around. The paintings on the ceiling were as nice as I have seen in Europe. They also had box seats that you could go in to. I wouldn't make a special trip to see it - especially if you have seen European theaters but I am glad we went in. You aren't allowed flash pictures and the theater itself was too dark so I only took pictures of the outside room.

My husband and I were lucky enough to watch a free concert performed by an a cappella sextet from Mexico. The theatre was built in 1910 and has held up wonderfully. We sat in box seating in the balcony which allowed us to see so many of the details of the theatre. The sound was phenomenal!

A beautiful and functional theater. If you go to El Salvador, I highly recommend seeing a show here. I only paid $1.50 for a 2 hour symphony. It was the best symphony that I've ever been to, better than ones in Vienna, Prague or Krakow that charge $50 euro. I loved the fact that entire families line up around the theater before the show and attend with their kids. Santa Ana is a special place, where the arts have made a huge impact.

Closed Mondays and $1.50 to get in, and well worth the visit, It is amazing! You feel like you are in Europe. This theatre rivals that of San Jose, Costa Rica.

I only did the tour, but it was lovely and well worth the $1.50. This is a gorgeous building. So nice to see an old building still being used.

Went to a Latino 80's replay and the crowd was totally into it singing along, the show was entertaining. BUT the theater was incredible! The classic design, great acoustics, and the domed roof with amazing art! It is worth travelling to Sta Ana just for this.
As it is right on the Central Park an afternoon or evening just being there with the locals is enchanting. I was fortunate enough to catch the 1st annual Pupuseada. See ya next year!

Beautiful old theater. The tour was interesting and the guide did it in English for me. Well worth $1.50 admission.
Good views from the second floor balcony.
