This is large cathedral located in the central square of Santa Ana, adjacent to the theatre.
It’s quite striking and beautiful with a white neo gothic facade and more of a classic brick main section.
It’s absolutely covered in pigeons, which they actually feed for their amusement.
You can go in for free and there is a small souvenir stand inside.
Overall it was a beautiful site in a the otherwise gritty city of Santa Ana.

Very pretty and huge cathedral in the center of Santa Ana. Unfortunately, the facade was covered in scaffolding when we visited. But it is still nice to see and worth a walk through, though the interior is more modest than many other cathedrals.

We visited Santa Ana, in order to say goodbye to our collaborators there. Magnificent visit, since for the first time in 10 years of visiting that beautiful land, we were able to walk freely without a team of guards, since security in El Salvador in general has improved significantly!
Blessings to that beautiful Central American land!

This cathedral is unique in that parts of it burned down over the years (lightning strikes). Quite interesting to see the two different sections of it.

This is an absolutely beautiful cathedral. It was a busy Sunday and full of people. The acoustics were fabulous and the architecture just beautiful. I was told I might not be able to enter but was able to with shorts on.

the Santa Ana Cathedral is very beautiful recently repainted outside now looks very beautiful like new, the inside is still old but is nice to visit, light a candle for Senora Santana, if you go to Santa Ana, El Salvador visit the Cathedral.

Unlike other reviewers, I did not like Santa Anna. Please keep in mind that this was my first trip to this part of Central America. I have visited many similar towns in Panama, Peru and Colombia.
My wife and I were driving to see Tazumal and wanted to go to church. I found the Cathedral in Google Maps and we went there for Mass. Unfortunately, we were a bit late. The church is huge, and every seat was full at the 10 am Mass. The church is absolutely gorgeous. The church is a wonderfully ornate brick structure, with a white front structure to provide a beautiful edifice to the square. The square is beautiful, with lots of colonial architecture.
With regards to personal safety, my wife is Colombian, accustomed to life in some rough areas, and an excellent judge of where dangers may lurk. The square itself felt safe. There were police present and very visible. However, parking was hard to find, and we were a couple of blocks from the square. Even only one block off the square had a feeling of danger. If with a guide, I would high recommend this attraction. Otherwise, I think this city is very harsh for a typical gringo traveling alone or as a couple.

We were pleasantly surprised by how nice Santa Ana is. I would put it in my top 5 cities in all of Central America, and I've been to every country in Central America. The Cathedral is the focal point of a very nice main square. We enjoyed the inside and the food stalls around the cathedral. A must visit if in El Salvador.

Beautiful Church with Gothic Architecture. The colors inside are soft and welcoming. Its located to the right of El Teatro De Santa Ana, which is another beauty worth visiting. Its pretty spectacular to see a building of such grandeur snugged in this small town of Santa Ana.

This Cathedral was started in 1906. Santa Ana imported some Italian craftsman and their work is noticeable in the wonderful Carrera marble-ordinario, staturario, chippolino and novelato-framing the side altars and the statue of Santa Ana.
Following a disastrous earthquake of late 20th century, the Cathedral is being restored. The front that faces the park is complete, the inside is mostly complete but the wings of the cathedral still are undergoing restoration.
If you stand in the front of the Cathedral street you can see that Santa Ana is laid out in a cross formed by the four principal churches with the cathedral as the head.

Do you need a ticket just to go inside the Cathedral and have a look around, maybe say a prayer?
