The Frog Pad is a surf shop in North Guiones that provides Surf Lessons from beginners to intermediate levels, rentals of Surfboards, Bodyboards, Bikes, Snorkel Kits, Beach Chairs, Umbrellas and more. Our retail side has all the necessities for the beach (rash guards, sunscreen, leashes, wax, beach towels, beach toys, sporting equipment, bug spray, and more). We set up all tours offered in Nosara, and the surrounding areas and can help with acquiring other rentals in the area.

This shops fat tire bikes with hand breaks and gear shifts are a thousand times better that the one gear only bike backward for breaking “beach bikes” that our hotel offered for the same price. And The Frog Pad is at least $7 cheaper for the same bikes that are rented across the street from them. The fat tire bikes were perfect on uneven trails, roads, and taking them on the beach!

My seventeen year old son took two surf lessons and was surfing at the end of the first lesson. We also rented beach chairs and surf boards daily. Staff was courteous and efficient.

I traveled around Costa Rica for about two months this past summer, and spent one week at Playa Guiones (Nosara).

While traveling, I read a lot more books than usual. From walking around town I noticed that The Frog Pad had a large selection of books, and it turned out they were very cheap with a good selection.

I browsed for awhile and Dave spent time helping me find a good book and providing plenty of information about the area and Costa Rica in general. There are lots of DVD's and games to rent as well, making it an amazing stop for families as well as solo travelers.

The more adventurous folks can rent surfboards or book tours in the shop as well, along with basic clothing, outdoors, and snack needs.

Shops like this are a true rarity, which makes The Frog Pad a refreshing and pleasant store to explore.

Dave and his crew were fantastic in making our 2 week holiday in Nosara. We rented our boards from them, were given good local knowledge about practically everything and found it was our go-to spot for all things Nosara and area related.
I learned more in 20 minutes from Dave about the "why's" of surfing, than I did with 2 hours of lessons on the water.
We didn't have a DVD player where we were staying but I wish we had as there was an eclectic selection.
We'll be back for sure!

This was one of my favorite places in Guiones...kind of strange I know, but it was just such a one stop shop. We rented umbrellas for the beach; $5 all day. Rented surfboards; $15 per day...pretty much the going rate in town. Booked a fishing trip, hired a tuk-tuk, bought gear, books, water...whatever you need. The best part was the great customer service...probably some of the best in town. Everytime we went in, Dave, the owner and his staff were always friendly and helpful. Never made you feel like a "stupid tourist" for asking questions. That was huge. I can't remember names, but the French girl and the Tico guy were so helpful and nice helping us out. Thanks for having such a great all purpose shop with super helpful staff. It goes a long way.

So many titles to choose from. When you arrive to the jungle some forget how difficult it is to get the comforts of city life. Frog Pad helps with that. Not only do they provide surf board rentals and snorkel gear, they have DVDs. Sometimes wifi does't work or is not available, so these "old fashion" little disc are awesome!!

Plenty of great movies to rent at the frog pad. Dave and his staff go out of their way to be accommodating and friendly. If there are adventures or tours you would like to set up the Frog Pad will make it happen.

The Frog Pad does many things; and conveniently, given it's location. Book your incredible massage with Juan Carlos Soldana (at Spacio), rent a Scrabble board, or some DVDs. You can also exchange books in the "library:. Don't have any to exchange? You can pay for a new book. Right across from the Gilded Iguana, in North Guiones. Helpful, friendly, ask questions. Pura vida.

My 10yr old daughter and I spent a week in suite del sol. Great space, feels like our little home. Recommend you buy groceries on way from airport of possible - much cheaper than buying in town here.
Our bedroom backs onto the main road (which is tiny) so can be a little noisy in the morning but not a huge deal.
The staff is very nice and will
Help you organize surf lessons, and anything else (highly
Highly recommend the massage at spaci spa next door, by Juan Carlos, it's fantastic).
Only thing that isn't great is the pool: beautiful but water there's no shade so gets way too hot. Beach makes more sense.
Make sure to check out Go Juice down the road for your daily smoothies and juices, yum.
Very important: most meals and rentals will only take cash and the bank machine in town regularly shuts down and bank in town won't take "any card with a chip", so you really need to get cash at airport or on the way. Colones are great for every day but US $ work fine too.
If you do get stuck there's another bank (but u need a car) near the main gas station that does take modern day cards;)
Pura vida!

Thank you for your review of The Frog Pad. Glad we could serve you. Every year the trees grow a little and I hope that by your next visit there will be plenty of shade and we'll have space for you in a large room within Villa Tortuga. Take care, Dave
