Best bikes
Feb 2020 • Friends
This shops fat tire bikes with hand breaks and gear shifts are a thousand times better that the one gear only bike backward for breaking “beach bikes” that our hotel offered for the same price. And The Frog Pad is at least $7 cheaper for the same bikes that are rented across the street from them. The fat tire bikes were perfect on uneven trails, roads, and taking them on the beach!

One of my favorite stores ever
Aug 2018 • Solo
I traveled around Costa Rica for about two months this past summer, and spent one week at Playa Guiones (Nosara).

While traveling, I read a lot more books than usual. From walking around town I noticed that The Frog Pad had a large selection of books, and it turned out they were very cheap with a good selection.

I browsed for awhile and Dave spent time helping me find a good book and providing plenty of information about the area and Costa Rica in general. There are lots of DVD's and games to rent as well, making it an amazing stop for families as well as solo travelers.

The more adventurous folks can rent surfboards or book tours in the shop as well, along with basic clothing, outdoors, and snack needs.

Shops like this are a true rarity, which makes The Frog Pad a refreshing and pleasant store to explore.

My stay durning March of 2018
Mar 2018 • Family
I stayed at the Frog Pad and took surfing lessons there as well on a spring break trip in 2018. The hotel has a great location and it was an easy walk to get to several nearby restaurants, a store, the beach, workout classes, yoga classes and the Nosora Language Institute. The Frog Pad's hotel staff was kind and spoke English. Therefore, even though I can speak Spanish, my mother, who does not, still found it easy to communicate with the staffers. The highlight of my trip, however, was taking surfing lessons through the hotel. My instructor, Jordan, was knowledgeable and professional. He even allowed me to keep the surfboard for a few more hours after our lesson ended and told me to just return it to the office as on my way back to my room. Overall, I found the entire stay extremely enjoyable and I highly recommend staying at the Frog Pad!

Has everything you need!
Jan 2018 • Family
Frog Pad (next to Nosara CR Surf School) has everything you might want to rent on your vacation. We just got a beach umbrella for a few days - pretty good price, easy rental process, great condition. They have things you might not even think of like movies and board games. Check them out!

David, Alex and the Frog Pad staff are great!
Feb 2017
David and his team are excellent. We've been renting boards and bikes from them for 7+ years. They are always helpful and flexible. They also go above and beyond. My wife had a medical emergency this past year and they totally took care of us connecting us with local medical resources.

Most important place in nosara
Apr 2016 • Family
Okay, so the title is pretty lofty but totally accurate for me at least. This is one of my favorite places in Nosara and I think if this place wasn't here I might have gone insane the first few trips. They have a huge selection of movies and now, a mini hotel kind of thing in the back, called villa tortuga. I'm staying there right now and I just have say, it's great be so close to the frog pad😂. Their staff is awesome and friendly and they have a nice book selection as well as a very comfy couch! One thing, is maybe they could have more books for teenagers or children because I feel like that would really add to the choices. Overall, great place to go, if you haven't stopped by here on your trip to Nosara, you need to!

I'd love to have more kids books as well, but these are the breaks with used book shops in foreign countries. Next time you're around find me as ask about my collection of books. I've kept many from my childhood, but don't sell them. Dave

Nice boards, very picky
Apr 2016 • Family
We visited April 2016 with 3 boys ages 13-18. They have a nice board selection. They do not have soft top boards. Best for experienced surfers. When we returned our boards they looked over them meticulously for any dings. We were charged an extra $10 for a ding they said occurred while in our possession. Not a big deal, but not super friendly, and we definitely had a better experience with other surf shops/board rentals in town.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the selection of boards. It's not fun for us to charge for dings either and we've revised how we check the board out now by having the renter make sure to check the board over as well and we take photos of anything that we mark down together. Take care and I hope that you give us another shot. Dave

Great Surf Lessons
Jan 2016 • Friends
Mark (at least i think that was our instructor's name -- strong Boston accent) took 4 of us out on our first-ever surf lesson. I felt like we got great instructions from him. really a lot of fun. I definitely recommend surf lesson's from this guy. Only drawback: because there were 4 of us, we had to split into two groups of two. My wife and friend went with the other guy and felt like they got less-than-great instruction. So, I suggest sticking with the pro, if possible. He charged us $60 per person for 1 hour of lessons. My brother (avid surfer) said he thought that was a fair price.

Thank you for your review. We're looking into cloning Mark for future group lessons, but until then we'll try and keep him busy and clients smiling. Take care, Dave
