We were originally trying to go on a snorkeling trip to Playa Rosada, but the waves were too big for visibility, so we turned it into a fishing trip instead. Andrey (Cacho) was a great guide and host. He picked us up at our hotel, and brought fresh pineapple and watermelon and a few cervezas. The "water taxi" from the beach to his boat was a cool experience itself. And then Andrey put us on a bunch of mahi. He filleted all the fish on the boat. We caught enough mahi to bring back and feed a whole crew where we were staying. Great vibes, easy going, and fun -- everything you could want in a local guide.

This review is related to fishing. We had a great experience with Cacho and his crew! Was just my brother and I - - we jumped on his boat 7 AM on a gorgeous morning, and within 30 minutes we were beginning to pull fish into the boat. Cacho was super cool and we had a lot of laughs together and a beautiful half day on the water, fishing was great and Cacho & his partner were the perfect mix of friendly and interactive but also professional and making sure the fishing was seriously happening. We ended up getting a bit of a discount (since the smaller boat we wanted wasn’t available that day) and so there wasn’t supposed to be any beer or anything included, but he was nice enough to openly share all his stuff the whole time anyway, and we ended up leaving with enough caught tuna meat to have ceviche and fillets for the rest of our time (1 week) in our rental there. Cacho was the perfect fit for us – we were not looking for any kind of super formal/business only experience yet also didn’t want to just spend half a day drinking on a boat in the sun w/o any real fishing - Cacho read our interests perfectly, and the day was better than we could have hoped for. We also saw humpback whales & spinning/jumping mantas, gorgeous day on a great boat. He’s also local and super knowledgeable on all kinds of other activities and advice if you ask, though not at all trying to sell you anything. Very laid back and easy going. Will definitely be calling him again when we are back in the area for another trip on the water – definitely recommend. Thanks again Cacho!

Cacho is amazing!! He was extremely nice and we are so happy we met him. We only did the one activity - paddleboarding on a river. Thankfully we didn’t see a crocodile because I wasn’t looking forward to getting that close to the one they named Cecilia that lives in that river. Cacho was able to tell us stories of the area and identify ever bird.

Very disappointing and a rip off. A waste of a morning of our holiday on the Kayak river tour. Unfortunately on the day we booked a "guided" Kayak tour (using the term loosely), Cachos was very busy trying to organise other tours with two of his friends who were hiring his equipment. The cost for 2 persons for a tour of a river from 10:30am, with some birds was $120 (Cachos gave us back $20 when I complained about how much he was on the phone). Poor value! Honestly he gave us some information, but a lot of the tour time was spent with us trying to decipher if he was on the phone, or speaking to us. The tour is meant to include fruit on a stop on the beach. He brought a half a watermelon and then took a quarter for himself. Ridiculous. Bare in mind the price. Poor level of quality - Cachos defended himself by saying "Most tour guides are completely silent and wait for questions". Absurb. Oh and that he had taken 10 photos of us on the Kayaks, which showed he had been working. So part of the tour was him on the phone organising other tours and equipment rental, and the other part was him trying to convince us to go on a fishing trip on his small outboard motor boat, which he had planned to overcharge another tourist on (admittedly), where he was originally going to take two of his friends, but he said "he'd rather make money", so kept asking us to join - but not even water would be included in this... For a starting price of $150 per person, which quickly reduced to $75 per person. I can't recommend Cachos or this tour as it was such poor quality. He did not give me any information on how to Kayak, despite me explaining that I hadn't done it before. He literally just pushed us into the current of the sea. Bit terrifying honestly. The Kayak and paddles were new, but this is irrelevant as I hadn't paid for rental of just the equipment, I paid for the experience of having a tour. Don't bother. Seems more concerned in making money with his finger in lots of different pies, rather than giving his clients value for money.
