In planning my trip to Nosara I reached out to Monkey Rentals in search of an ATV rental. They were recommended by a friend. I really appreciate the time John spent in responding to my many inquiries and how prompt he was at returning my emails. Definitely went above and beyond in this area. And to me, this speaks a lot about a business. Thanks Monkey Quads!

We were in Nosara for 2 weeks and the last weekend took the tour with Monkey Quads into the mountains to Malanoche water fall where we were able to swim in the falls. It was the best way to see the beautiful countryside, from the mountain trail with beautiful vistas to the jungle trail that took us riding through rivers and over bridges..Easy for anyone to do. Our guide Manuel was very helpful and stopped at some of the best spots for photo opps. Definitely a must do when in Nosara.

My husband and I arranged a family tour for our nieces and nephews (2 teen boys, 2 teen girls and 1 pre-teen) Monkey Quads. As well-travelled adults we were dreading the stereotypical cheesy-guided tour. Much to our surprise what we experienced was directly the opposite. We lucked out and got Junior as our guide. He instantly made us feel like friends who had come in for the weekend. He listened carefully to what our interests were (not easy with 7 people) and customized a 5 hour adventure that a month later, we're still talking about! Junior was born and raised in Playa Guiones and it's obvious he loves and appreciates the natural wonders. We felt incredibly safe in Junior's capable hands and saw vistas and curiosities that would have been an absolute crime not to have experienced. There are many options for quad tours in Nosara but we chose Monkey tours for many reasons: use of local guides only, modern and well-kept equipment, a recommendation from a local, it's safety record, and feedback from friends who had taken a tour with one of Monkey Quad's competitors. We were in Nosara for 7 days and went out with Junior twice..... the kids BEGGED! The second day was just as awe inspiring but completely different! COUPLE TIPS: Take the goggles if you go in dry season, the dust can be intense. Wear dark clothing because you're going to get dirty and the dirt stains! Trust Junior and follow his lead- you'll see the off the beaten path Playa Guiones that the real locals see. Thanks again Junior, we'll be back!!!!

This is a scam and this place sucks don’t rent from here they will kidnap you drop you off at a random location and take all your money then try making u pay the price of 2 atvs just to get back to the airport. Really hate this business not sure how they’re still operating considering they scam individuals. The owner has yet to refund me and I currently have to sue them for what they did to us on vacation

We rented a golf cart. It broke down a few days in. We did get a replacement for the rest of our trip, but he wouldnt deliver it to where we were staying.
Another negative is he charges a huge $500 deposit, but he doesn’t mention it until you show up to rent. I checked my email history with him, and he never brought it up before I got to his office.
Lastly, he charges $10 for bandanas and other crazy prices for basic cheap supplies (sunscreen, etc) in his office. I ended up picking up the same bandanas for $.40 at the Super Nosara grocery store. You need bandanas for the dusty roads.
Just seems like he’s out to nickel and dime his customers.

Sorry your cart broke down, mechanical issues do occur on occasion. Right now it is very busy in Nosara. If there had been any way for us to have the manpower to deliver your replacement at this time, we would have done that as well. Manuel and Vlady are very accommodating Ticos, like most Costa Ricans.
The $500 deposit is a hold on your credit card and is a standard for the area. With all the tariffs associated with a vehicle, the carts cost approximately $14,000. The deposit encourages proper use of the vehicles. Most people are responsible with the carts, but some are not.
The prices for the items in the shop are set by costs in the US and tariffs and shipping. It is what we need to charge to provide them. Of course, everyone is free to shop wherever they want for these things.
Again, sorry you did not enjoy your experience. I think this is our second unhappy response in 6 years we have had the business.

Oscar was our guide and took 7 of us on an amazing grand tour. He was very informative of animal and vegetation life, as well as fun all around! It was our second year visiting the gauanacaste province and this excursion was by far and away the best thing we have ever done on vacation.

A group of 5 of us (my husband, my daughter aged 11, my sister, my father, and I) were excited to ride ATVs and our tour with Manuel of Monkey Quads definitely exceeded our expectations! He was accommodating in making the tour itself as easy as possible for my husband, who is deathly afraid of heights. He was also very understanding when we had to change course after my daughter started feeling a bit woozy (she was dehydrated). We loved the waterfall we visited and the ATV tour was definitely a highlight of our trip to Nosara.

Our family (Mom, Dad and two teenage daughters) went on an ATV Waterfall tour with Junior from Monkey Quads in August 2015. It was excellent!!! Junior was awesome!! Very knowledgeable and lots of fun. He was also very safety conscious. None of us had every rode ATVs and he did a great job keeping us safe but also having fun. It was an experience we will not forget!!

We were scheduled with another tour company and happened upon Monkey Quads who were trying to help us find our tour guide. We didn't have reservations but John quickly set us up with Manuel who guided us on an incredible ride through villages, mountains and to a remote waterfall where we dove into cool and refreshing waters about midway through our tour. We saw howler monkeys (who peed on my wife's 4-wheeler), incredible views and a wonderful waterfall. We were not rushed but enjoyed an adventurous and exhilarating tour. We would absolutely, 100% recommend John and Monkey Quads! John and Manuel are the best! Boomer Sooner!

This place was the best price we found in the area. The owner was amazingly nice and our tour guide, Junior, was extremely patient and helpful. We were a group of 10 females and he was attentive and took his time on our tour. Beautiful view of the beaches! Would definitely recommend this tour company!

The tours start at 8 am, but you have to book it. There is a minimum of 3 quads required for a tour. It is $75/ quad for one person or $100/quad if you have two people on one quad/ These usually is also a $5 fee for the land owner for the destination. Go to our website and to contact Manuel for any other details.

Hello Kelly, I have a question about your kids and the 4wheeler. Are the kids allowed to be on the 4 wheeler with an adult? Or did you rent the jungle cart? What is your suggestion?
Written January 8, 2018
This is John at Monkey Quads. Children are allowed on with an adult. You are responsible for you and yourself by following safety guides. The carts will ride 4 or 5, depending on how big or old your kids are.
