I had tried surfing a couple of times and I wanted to learn more and properly. I chose Surf Bikini Retreat, since they offered more surfing lessons than other retreats /camps, and could have not been happier with my choice! Adilia has gathered an amazing team; coaches are excellent and I felt safe all the time, and Adilia herself knew perfectly how to guide us in water and through video analysis. Yoga was perfect restorative sessions after and in-between surfing. Food was delicious and housing beautiful. Everything was arranged very well and the schedule had good balance of activities and free time. The whole retreat was definitely worth it and coaches main goal is accomplished: I rode my first solo green wave today! I can recommend the retreat to complete beginner surfers (such as myself) and also for experienced ones, since the coaches really do know how to help everyone advance.

I’ll just start off by saying oh I highly recommend Surf Bikini retreat, whether you are a beginner,intermediate or advanced, surfer - the coaching and twice a day access to the beach is amazing. I had a wonderful time with my adult daughter, despite the fact that I had never surfed before. I realized very quickly that being a strong swimmer was not enough. One also needs to have enormous, physical strength, especially upper body. However, the coaches were extremely patient and kind. I felt supported and nurtured in my learning. Adilia has created a very thoughtful retreat, exclusively for women and created a very homey environment. The food was always fresh and delicious. From tropical fruits to ceviche, we had a smorgasbord of delights! The environment was beautifully landscaped and areas for yoga and swimming were perfect. There were no significant cons to my stay and I recommend surf bikini retreat without hesitation. I definitely feel I will be back.
Please note that there may be additional expenses such as meals outside of the stay and transportation, which averages approximately $10 each way to town or to the various locations for entertainment. The beach is a car ride away and transportation is provided daily. Costa Rica is a bit pricey , but it’s OK to use US dollars and is usually quite desirable by local businesses. The retreat had ages ranging from 15 to 64 during my stay, so anyone at almost any age can be accommodated.
Again this retreat was fabulous and highly recommended!

November 2020 I came back for the retreat second time. I booked my spot as soon as Adilia posted on her Instagram that travelers from the US can enter Costa Rica. I was even very worried that she won’t have enough spots as all guests wanted to return. I guess all of us were just very tired of this year and wanted to return to our safe space where we knew fun is guaranteed!
The first time I went to the retreat was for my birthday in 2019. It was a very spontaneous solo trip that changed my life for the best. I got a new hobby by starting to surf from being pretty much a beginner, got new friends, got welcomed with real women empowerment and kindness I could not expect.
What’s the experience like? From early morning rise to the late evening, your day is filled with activities. Adilia prepares schedule that accommodates for surf conditions best (surf is always!! great in Nosara, but she picks it best for levels in the group), fills it with enough time to rest when our muscles are sore, and allows enough time for fun! Surfing aside, more than anything I appreciate all the evenings with endless conversations where like minded women support and understand each other. Both times our group was just excellent and we cried departing!
This year is a special one of course. Always have to check travel advisory, stay safe, and follow the rules in the year of this crazy pandemic. Adilia was very helpful to guide us through all requirements and pointed to resources we needed to prepare for the trip. As a result, we knew that we were all safe and well! My only regret from this year is that I wish I could stay longer. Really thinking to come back again in few months if work permits, because with work from home I need change of scenery more often. So chances are that I might end up in your group if you are planning to come.
And don’t forget to smile when you get wiped out! It’s all about fun!

This is my second surf retreat with Surf Bikini, my first was in Pavones which I also recommend!, but this time we surfed in Playa Guiones. This beach is perfect for beginners but also has great surf for more intermediate/experienced surfers as well. Our camp had a whole range of levels present and they have coaches to work with all of us where we're at in our training. We had 2 surf sessions most days, with one free day and one day with a double session and a different beach. We stay in a beautiful house with private rooms and bathrooms, you can share or have your own. There's a pool which I used almost every day, and we get 3 yoga classes and a massage included! The schedule is full and gives you lots of different experiences while being very well fed in between, plus still time for naps! Speaking of the food, it was delicious and there was always food left over! Our favorite night was sushi night. The chef made sure there were options for everyone! We had the best time and have had so many friends ask for info to come to a future camp as they watched from my social media. I highly recommend Surf Bikini if you're looking for a women centered retreat with personalized surf instruction, I will definitely be coming back!

Magical… empowering… life changing… I didn’t have a ton of expectations going into this retreat as my friend booked for a group of us. I thought, maybe I’ll get up on a surf board, at least I’ll enjoy the beach. But the experience was above and beyond what I could’ve imagined. I’ve done several yoga retreats before this, and this was BY FAR the best. Adilia has carefully curated the most beautiful, fun, empowering experience for women. From the moment we got off the plane we felt so safe and taken care of. The house was perfectly designed to host a group of women with secluded rooms, a dreamy pool under the beautiful jungle trees with monkeys hanging as you swim, and a magical Shala for yoga/meditation and reading. The chefs were INCREDIBLE - always had the most delicious, healthy meals and snacks to keep us nourished… fresh coconuts, smoothies, plantain pancakes, roasted veggies, chicken… the list goes on. It was all so beautiful and even more delicious to eat. And most importantly, the surfing! All I wanted to do was get up once within the week. This amazing strong team of women coaches had EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US up on our first day. They took the time to understand all the different levels, explain techniques and safety, and push us out of our comfort zone just the right amount. These coaches not only made it possible for all of us to surf, but showed us how to have fun doing it. It was truly a dream and I feel so lucky to have gone on this magical experience. And on top of the retreat itself, nosara was amazing. The town was so friendly with delicious food and beautiful shops. And everywhere you go you mention adilias name and you will be taken care of. Truly felt like we got a “locals” experience that you can’t normally get as a tourist. 11/10 stars from me… will definitely be back!!!

My week at surf bikini was nothing short of outstanding. Every aspect of the retreat greatly exceeded my expectations. Adilia, Lucie, and all the other women who run the retreat are warm, inviting, attentive to every guests needs, and incredibly friendly and caring. Being surrounded by such positive, strong women all week was so uplifting.
I started out with a few days of surf experience before this and by the second day I was able to catch and ride green waves. With the help of the instructors I found my confidence and learned more skills in a week than I ever hoped to. Between physical exercises, yoga postures to keep us loose, classes on surf etiquette and video analysis, this retreat was more of an intensive learning experience (in all the best ways). The women who instruct are all very safe and knowledgeable and provide the most stoke, confidence, and ability to push you just out of your comfort zone. Gabi instructed me for the week and she is an incredibly strong and powerful woman with a lot of great knowledge to share. She encouraged me to push myself and was always there when I needed help with anything.
Additionally, there is no shortage of luxury! Between the fresh gourmet meals, smoothies, cocktails, pool, massages, comfy beds, and hot showers, I felt like a queen. There was plenty of time to relax and chill out and get to know the other chicas.
All in all, it was a week from heaven. This trip was a splurge for me, but it was so worth the money. I would absolutely do it again.

This was the first ever solo trip I did on my own. I loved how Surf Bikini had surfing twice a day it really allowed you to get good practice whether you were a beginner or more advanced. All of the coaches were absolutely amazing and each offered their own tips for you. It was really cool seeing the video footage from practice and seeing where you went wrong or what you are doing good at. By the end of the week the coaches instilled enough confidence within you to know the proper technique in surfing and catching waves. They were such a huge confidence boost. The yoga was so helpful in stretching the muscles we used and was very calming. It was beautiful seeing the shala with butterflies and humming birds. The food was also amazing and they are so wonderful if you have a certain diet and offer various options in order to make sure your body gets enough energy to be able to surf and do yoga. As a solo traveler it was awesome getting to meet other amazing women of all ages and lifestyles from around the world and making friends in a week. Adilia and her team do such a good job at making you feel at home and safe while also offering you a fun and memorable experience. 100/10 would go back again. I will take everything I have learned from surf bikini back with me and teach it to others. Pura vida!

Myself and two friends booked the retreat back in September 2022 for March 2023 session. Less than 48 hours before we were suppose to start the retreat we received an email that the retreat was canceled and we could reschedule for another date. Because we had booked this retreat so far in advance, we had taken the time off work and made all other travel accommodations that were not refundable, canceling was not an option for us. Surf Bikini Retreat offered us 1/4th of the retreat accommodation for the FULL price of the original retreat. Communication was poor from the beginning and their cancellation policies do not exist. Cannot speak to the retreat accommodations itself as we opted to get our deposit back and spend it elsewhere in Costa Rica.

Dear Haley, thank you to you and your friends for intending to visit our retreat, we would have loved to have them. I know that we did not have any direct communication, but with one of your friends. Maybe there was a misunderstanding, I really don't know what happened. Due to the cancellation of the other group of friends (I gave them the opportunity to reschedule) which was the majority of the retreat because it was a birthday, logically the retreat would only have the three of you, so the experience itself would no longer be the same, I explained this to your friend because I wanted to be transparent.
Immediately, I had a call with your friend to explain what was happening and the options we were offering. I gave you several options, including coming and we will run the retreat with only the three of you, because I knew it was last minute and we always will take this kind of responsibility. I gave you time to decide together, but logically you came to me with a negotiation in which I could not take it, because the 25% deposit that you had made in the beginning will not cover any of the expenses for the week, especially if we provide a private retreat. Since I did not accept this, you opted for a full refund of the 25%, I immediately made it to you.
There is always a first time and thanks to this experience we will work in specific cancellation policy, where no one is affected in the future, everything is a learning.

This was actually our second time here with a group of friends.
Surf Bikini is just phenomenal. Everything is perfectly organised. The location and the accommodation is amazing (Carmencita, Elena and Graciela are just great), outstanding food and sooooo delicious !
Every surf coach teach in a very logic way that accommodate for each students. Learned a ton of little details which will help me getting better in surfing and so much fun.
All the chicas were extremely patient and motivating and got us even out the back towards the end of the week.
We also loved the video coaching and the theory lessons which were always very helpful. The Yoga classes with Katy and Adilia were super helpful and Karla’s massage are top notch and so helpful to recover from all the surfing.
We would like to thank the whole Surf Bikini Retreat staff for an awesome week !!!!

Surf Bikini retreat exceeded all of my expectations! Every single person on Adilia’s staff (including Adilia herself) is an absolute rockstar. Whatever your age or surfing experience, you will be welcome with open arms. Coaching is very personal and safe, with one coach to every two students. Playa Guiones is beautiful and the perfect location to learn to surf or improve your skills. The food is delicious. Everything was simply beyond amazing. I did not want to leave!!
