We were booked to take the boat trip to White Island on a Wednesday on our way from Rotorua to Coromandel. We received a call the night before to advise us the weather was not good and unfortunately the trip was cancelled. We asked to be wait listed and happily received a call Thursday to advise we were to be... More

They were sold out and made an effort to try to get us on the tour. We did end up coming back a few days later. Company does a great job communicating with you throughout the booking and super friendly. We had a few people who were sea sick on the way to the island and crew members were there... More

A really nice boat trip to this beaitiful vulcano island, you really must do this when you are there, you can only come there by boat, you are not allowed to come there on your own. But the trip was included lunch, really very nice day.

Touring the island on foot was amazing. We took a boat to the island on a beautiful sunny day. About 1 hour later we arrived and it was amazing. The volcano is "active" so a hard hat was required and a gas mask was optional. We used the mask a couple times because of the sulfur smell got pretty strong.... More

Walking on a live vulcano, in a moon-like surrounding is a once in a live-time experience. Mutch explanation from the pilot, and a nice flight.

Took the fixed-wing Cessna flight out over White Island. It was great, very smooth take off and landing, a very safe pilot, and the sights are surreal. I highly recommend this adventure! Look for pods of whales chasing schools of fish below you on the flight out and back!

Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the company that flew us out. We booked at the tourist info in Whakatane and flew out from the airport there. Very good service, very nice people. It was a awesome experience. You get to walk around a live volcano! Put it on your bucket list

My first time to an active volcano. It was amazing and worth a visit. Takes about 90 minutes by boat in ont direction. We sent 2 hours with guides from Whakatane. Be preparat for some smell from the surfar, but the landskapet looks like mars.

Amazing experience. White island is privately owned but you can visit if you make a donation to charity. In typical kiwi style, it's not overly regulated, you have to have closed toe shoes and the rest is up to you. Guided boat trips or helicopter trips will get you out there. The area is an abandoned sulfur mine/refinery and remnants... More
