Description:

Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park....

Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park. Voted by AA Tourism as a must-do Kiwi experience The Waterworks is a theme park with a difference. Set in 5 acres of native Coromandel Bush and just 10 minutes from Coromandel Town is an array of water powered inventions, quirky contraptions and fun to discover at every turn. Inspired by the ability to create something new out of something old our attractions are made largely from recycled materials and are powered by water. Water is used to keep time on the wooden water clock; watch out though it often works on Coromandel time. We've got water cannons to blast away on and bikes that pump H2O. Our human sized hamster wheel is an absolute hoot and our mad inventions leave people wondering "what the".As well as the 70+ attractions to look at, play on, or interact with, The Waterworks has a generous adventure playground area perfect for picnics, an onsite café, free use of BBQs and a natural swimming hole to cool off in during the hot summer months.

If your going you need to turn it into a full day visit to get value for money. Better activity to do with smaller kids in Summer. They should have winter/summer rates as you are disadvantaged in winter as you are unable to use a lot of the things. Clean, tidy and interesting. Tip: Before you get to this place... More

We checked out The Waterworks on a cool overcast day in August. It was an awesome day out! There was so much to explore and do. The kids ran from one attraction to the next. My favourite was the May pole and shooting the water guns at my kids! We will definitely be back in the summer months to spend... More

The family enjoyed the visit, good stopover on our trip. Kids will have fun. Would be nice in summer especially if warm enough for a swim in the river. The business could do with a spruce up to make it top notch. (or it was it winter making it look a little worn). Undercover area for the cafe. BBQ available... More

Hi and thanks for the review, I'm hoping that it was just the sparse bush and leafless trees that gave you the impression things were a little tired. However we occasionally do that that comment in summer as well and I think sometimes it might be something to do with the fact everything is recycled to begin with. I don't... More

Great fun for all ages, plenty of hands on fun. Lovely play area with child and adult friendly activities. The cafe was set out really well and great coffee.

Hi Rowena Glad you had a great time, I'll pass your comments on to the staff and also to our coffee supplier, it's a family business called Coffee Lala based close to Whitianga, they roast the coffee in small batches each week. Hope to see you back here sometime. More

Don't miss stopping here, it's totally worth it. Such a surprisingly interesting, funny, quirky place to spend a few hours. It's full of interactive things and hilarious signs and information to read. We had a right giggle exploring all things to do with water, little and big inventions that spark the imagination. More fun in the sun and interesting to... More

The water works park is defiantly something different to do. I thought it was pricey at first but found we spent a couple hours there interacting with the gadgets having fun and jumping on the playground/ flying fox Worth popping in if you are in the area

We took the 309 road from Whitianga across to Coromandel and I believe it's really worth the drive yea it's slow & a bit hairy especially with opposing traffic but the scenery & nostalgia of how many of NZ road where are fantastic.. Then there's the water works a fantastic place to stop for a break & wonder thru some... More

HI and thanks for the review, your comments make it all worth while. Whilst we are a great place for children it's not always so obvious we are a fun filled place for Adults. Many of the attractions are inspired by my own childhood. Best wishes Jeff More
