Description:

Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park....

Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park. Voted by AA Tourism as a must-do Kiwi experience The Waterworks is a theme park with a difference. Set in 5 acres of native Coromandel Bush and just 10 minutes from Coromandel Town is an array of water powered inventions, quirky contraptions and fun to discover at every turn. Inspired by the ability to create something new out of something old our attractions are made largely from recycled materials and are powered by water. Water is used to keep time on the wooden water clock; watch out though it often works on Coromandel time. We've got water cannons to blast away on and bikes that pump H2O. Our human sized hamster wheel is an absolute hoot and our mad inventions leave people wondering "what the".As well as the 70+ attractions to look at, play on, or interact with, The Waterworks has a generous adventure playground area perfect for picnics, an onsite café, free use of BBQs and a natural swimming hole to cool off in during the hot summer months.

A 55+er, 65+er and a medium sized dog played around the waterpark for almost 2 hours. Hands on fun. Like children when sun, playground and water is involved it can't go wrong with the fun. We have been laughing till we were crying with some of our own "try-and-see-what-happens" experiences and later sitting in the sun enjoying the other visitors... More

excellent place, lots of different ideas and concepts. Our 3 year old loved it and couldnt wait to try out his own creations once home! Loved the joke boards, gave me a good giggle on the way round, unfortunatley my husband didnt get a chance to read them as our son was busy running off to see the next cool... More

You have to go a long way to see something on the 309 road, but if you have time to take the long way to Whitianga up the Thames-Coromandel coast and then thru the mountains its a great scenic trip (dry weather recommended). However on the way stop at the Waterworks. It has been there for a while and some... More

This place was very enjoyable and very well setup. It is clearly aimed at families, and any family would enjoy a day here. There is something for all ages. They have BBQ's located around the site, and there is a great swimming hole area. There is a lot of interactivity as well. They have a cafe as well. We were... More

If your going you need to turn it into a full day visit to get value for money. Better activity to do with smaller kids in Summer. They should have winter/summer rates as you are disadvantaged in winter as you are unable to use a lot of the things. Clean, tidy and interesting. Tip: Before you get to this place... More

We checked out The Waterworks on a cool overcast day in August. It was an awesome day out! There was so much to explore and do. The kids ran from one attraction to the next. My favourite was the May pole and shooting the water guns at my kids! We will definitely be back in the summer months to spend... More

The family enjoyed the visit, good stopover on our trip. Kids will have fun. Would be nice in summer especially if warm enough for a swim in the river. The business could do with a spruce up to make it top notch. (or it was it winter making it look a little worn). Undercover area for the cafe. BBQ available... More

Hi and thanks for the review, I'm hoping that it was just the sparse bush and leafless trees that gave you the impression things were a little tired. However we occasionally do that that comment in summer as well and I think sometimes it might be something to do with the fact everything is recycled to begin with. I don't... More

Hi Rowena Glad you had a great time, I'll pass your comments on to the staff and also to our coffee supplier, it's a family business called Coffee Lala based close to Whitianga, they roast the coffee in small batches each week. Hope to see you back here sometime. More
