Description:

Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park....

Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park. Voted by AA Tourism as a must-do Kiwi experience The Waterworks is a theme park with a difference. Set in 5 acres of native Coromandel Bush and just 10 minutes from Coromandel Town is an array of water powered inventions, quirky contraptions and fun to discover at every turn. Inspired by the ability to create something new out of something old our attractions are made largely from recycled materials and are powered by water. Water is used to keep time on the wooden water clock; watch out though it often works on Coromandel time. We've got water cannons to blast away on and bikes that pump H2O. Our human sized hamster wheel is an absolute hoot and our mad inventions leave people wondering "what the".As well as the 70+ attractions to look at, play on, or interact with, The Waterworks has a generous adventure playground area perfect for picnics, an onsite café, free use of BBQs and a natural swimming hole to cool off in during the hot summer months.

An amazing afternoon treat. The drive up was scenic as always along the Coromandel coast and the much improved 309 road since I was a kid :). Our family of 8 ( 6 children, ranging from 4yrs to 18yrs), were able to do all of the activities regardless of age, everything was hands on so our boys loved it!! The... More

I went in with moderate expectations but within minutes I was smiling and laughing in sheer joy. I went to see The Waterworks by myself and thoroughly enjoyed it but there were several parts of it that would be utter fun with more than one person. Fun, hands-on, surprising and wondrous. Don't miss it - you'll love it :) and... More

This attraction was exactly as advertised. Water in all its applications both fun and educational engaged us all day. The children especially liked the water hole for swimming and jumping, and the water cannons and the flying bikes. On site cafe had a good choice of food, and fun tables to eat from.

We were so amazed by all the creative "waterworks" made by recycled stuff. It's not busy but much better than any other theme parks like Disney land or rainbows end! We will for sure come back again!

....seriously, this is the wackiest, coolest, most oddball place on the planet....and it simply "ROCKS". Our family of two adults and three kids had an amazing time here. The entry fee for us at the time was $75 NZD but considering you could spend all day here, that was pretty good. This place is full of random (did someone say... More

This was recommended to us by a local as being lots of fun for all although we are an older couple we enjoyed the quirkiness of the park. Fantastic for children and those with a sense of humour. There is a cafe but you can take a bbq or picnic. With children spend some time and let them have fun.

One of the best places in corromandel, so glad we went here. So many things to do and see, hilarious sense of humour and would be great fun with kids. Not as far out as you would think, but 309 is an unpaved road. Great place to visit!

So many querky exhibits made from everyday objects but used in unexpected ways. Expect to get wet if you are with someone who delights in surprising you with unexpected water spurts. The grounds are landscaped with large trees and flowers and very easy to walk around. There is shade in plenty if you are concerned about the heat. There is... More

In our group were 2 in 50's, 4 in late 20s, 2 in late teens, and a toddler, and we all really enjoyed it. Well worth the entry fee for hours of fun. Dress for being active so you can try everything and bring togs for a jump in the river! Good exercise and a pleasant walk. Informative too. Pretty... More

Fantastic family day out, heaps to do & see & plenty of opportunity to get a little or a lot wet. Great use of recycled items, easy walking track & natural garden, superb NZ ingenuity & sense of humor. Saw hello to Pepper the friendly black & white cat normally lazing in the cafes outdoor area. Food in the cafe... More
